56 Chevy...Grandpa's car he gave to me when I was 14...still have it 35 years later. Pretty much looks the same as it did then (the car, that is...)

  6. Mine was a Raleigh moped - 49cc of throbbing power between your legs.

Remember, this was the UK in the dark and dismal early 1970's. If I'd been living in So Cal I'm sure I would have been driving something cool.

Bought a 62 Impala 2 dr ht 6cyl 3 on tree for $75, then got lucky with a 69 Super Bee for $500, 383 At. Wrecked it like my bro-in-law predicted, had to use the family 40 Plymouth 4 dr (oh the shame) until I got a 65 Mustang, 289 4 speed, sucker was fast and rusty, sold it to get a 68 Impala 327 fastback that I had until graduation and marriage, it got rear ended by a drunk while parked, but still kept running for a while

First car was a 1980 AMX my dad bought for me for 200 bucks. We spent most of that summer (2000) looking for parts in the junkyard. By then end of the summer my dad liked the car so much that he decided to keep it. I used it a little bit in college a few years later and last year I bought it from my old man for 50 bucks. I used it as a daily driver for about half a year. It now sits at my house awaiting restoration.

My first car I actually got to keep that I paid for with my own money was a 83 AMC Eagle. Wound up buying 3 more. The one I liked the most was a little two door Eagle Kammback with a 4 cylinder and 4 speed. I got stuck alot with my Eagles, mostly due to me trying to force them to go in places no car should have any buisiness going to.

I also had a 88 Nissian Stanza I bought for 50 bucks. Drove it for a while but it just wasnt my style. Got a couple of freebies, a 84 Eagle which my friend now owns and a 87 Chevrolet Sprint that I received my first speeding ticket in. My friend's used to call it the foolmobile because only a fool would drive something with red trailer lights for turn signals in the front. To be fair I didn't put them on but I was too lazy and cheap to do anything about it. I sold it for 90 bucks and it was on the road for at least another 5 years after I sold it. I also bought a 77 Ford F-100 the summer before my senior year (2002). I bought it for 350 bucks, it had been sitting in a farmer's field. It had a mighty 300 six and three speed. I still have it and currently it is the only thing I have that is somewhat reliable and road worthy.

My 65 Falcon Station Wagon. Put a 289 from a wrecked 65 mustang. Has 2 1/2" 2 chamber flowmasters. Was the loudest exhaust with the smallest v-8. And did the best doughnuts and burnouts. It was great people called it the ghostbusters car.

I had to dig hard but I just found this old vid on Youtube. It's a bunch of guys from here back in my high school days in the mid 80s showing off. We weren't all a bunch of Breakfast Club freaks back then.....well maybe speed freaks! :D

A 1959 Alfa Spider Veloce. We hopped it up, dual webbers , delong cams and about 11 to 1 cr. did I mention a straight pipe for the exhaust. My mom made seat covers and helped me put in carpet. It was not a show car but who cares, it was fast and a whole lot of fun. My girl friend could hear me coming a half a mile away.

'57 Chrysler 300 with cracked leather seats, 15" snow tires in the back, bald 13" up front and not much for brakes. 392 hemi with an experimental cam from a local AA/Fuel Dragster that I had to get reground because it kept trashing the torqueflight tranny when I punched it into gear. Had a great idle, though. I was really fortunate to have survived that car, what with a few 120 mph drives in town with bad brakes. My brother gave me the car when he went into the Marines in '66.

The first one I bought was a '59 MGA after I sold the Chrysler to some circle track racers who just wanted the engine. Both were great high school cars.

Now I'm wondering where all the photos are...

Bought this '53 Plymouth wagon in '58. Earl Schieb paint job, custom interior and rattle can scallops. Got a wagon because I had several paper routes delivering the LA Times, SD Union and NY Times. Interesting to note how many high school rides were only a few years old.
