A friend called me and said he had found a rough 5W . I told him I woud be in town in a couple of days and we'd go look at it. I looked at it twice that day and called the owner that evening. He said he'd sell, but we couldn't come up with a price we both could agree on. Two days later he calls ., I came up $1200 and he came down $1300.but I had to do the deal that night since I was going to Colorado the next morning. I drove 120 miles and picked it up in the dark. It looked worse in the dark than it did in the day light. Here's pix
A couple weeks later I got back from Colorado and spent about 25 hrs on it . I'm satisfied with the results. Now it looks like an easy fix So I'm putting it in the shed for the winter and getting to work om my F100 daily project.
Well,.... I think you got a smokin deal on it, Congratulations !,.... you got it looking pretty dang good there.
Man you have the luck, I have been looking for a project like that for my rolling chassis. If you get burned out on it, let me know.
It looks like you got those 1/4s to come out pretty well. I would like to hear what you did to straighten them out. Looks like a great buy to me. Let me know next time your in CO...
I started by drilling a small hole in the area under both quarter windows(at the point where the were pushed out the most) and attached eye bolts and a ratchet strap to pull them together. I put two sissor jacks under the the rear corners of the roof to push them up. Then I used a portapower on the rear quarters to push them out. When all this high tec equipment was in place, I started pushing and pulling at the same time tell it was back in place. Oh ,and a big friken hammer.
Yeah,I worked on it last winter getting the floor and patch panels in, then I chopped it 5" Its about ready for body work. I'm side tracked on a F100 project this winter,
25 hrs well spent, nice score. Good thing you didn't walk away away from it over a $100 or you would repeating the same mind thought sometime down the road. That coupe is better than money in the bank.
I think he paid quite a bit more than some of you are thinking What a difference after 25 hours! Do you know what happened to it to do the damage it had?
Gary, when I saw it was you that bought it, I had no doubts that it would be fixed....nice job !! Dale
