I have just acquired a 57 chevy 2 door post, all the panels are present and the chassis has been blasted and fully rebuilt with all new parts, inc suspension and the rear end BUT! whoever started doing this left getting the body blasted until last and to say its rusted is being kind, any trim, dash, glass or useful parts apart from the rolling chassis are long gone, I could just keep the chassis for sommething later on but I keep thinking about a oval track late model modified type thing but on the street, what would you do with this? I would fix it. Some see rust I see a 57 in a place where there is not too many around to chose from so I see it being done. But that is just me. depends on your skill level and how much it would be to ship a 57 shell over seas would depend on weather to do it or not.Any 4 door parts cars around??I would swap out the door post to a 4 door car in better shape.

man, i'm from wisconsin, and the worst basket case i ever seen was 5 times better than that. i would sell the body for scrap, stash the chassis and call it a day.

That is what we call scrap, in any country. You'd be building a new 57 panel by panel.

You can buy a new 57 shell now ,and if a had the desire to build one

Thats what I would be looking into before I jumped on that body.

Honestly, save the chassis and post an add with photos of what might be the good pieces that someone might want like the door posts and front part of the quarters and send the rest off for scrap.
Sometimes a guy just has to decide that some of these rigs are just too far gone to save.

I hope "acquired" doesn't mean "purchased".

Yep...make it a racer. Put a REAL good cage in it to keep it together :). Or....just build as is, on the street you will never get lost, just follow the rust home:D.

  29. Sometimes it pays to take the long way, which is scap this old girl and look for a more soild one. Not only will you save a whole lot of fab and welding, you will finish sooner with less time spreading and sanding of bondo.

Cut it up and use it as a parts car....I think I see a part you can use. :(
