I am a church goer and nowhere in my Bible is the Corvette listed as sacred. Having seen your other projects I will be watching to see what magic you work on this "little red corvette" (in my best Prince voice).

I think it's because they seem so rare and unobtainable to most people. Personally, I like all cars stock, that way when I finally get my hands on one it's not all screwed up. Then I get to be the one that makes all the changes and pisses everybody off.

  4. Ya got my vote for whatever ya want to do with them. I had a '61 Impala 2dr ht fawn beige and a '62 Corvette fawn beige at the same time in the early 60's - tall cotton my man.

You spend enough time messing with fiberglass & eventually it's bound to happen. Good move getting a vette instead of a boat. I figure a custom inground pool is next

I was hoping you found the '53 with a flathead in it. It's probably a refrigerator by now.

Yeah!! If I ever make enough money to fund the Corvette build of my dreams, it's going to be a mild custom inspired by Eric Rickman's 'Vette with Rocket power!

I think I'll stick with the "Anything but a SBC" crowd on this build. :)

  17. Sister car to the Impala? So it's gonna be like 'the rich kid's car you'd find in the local college's parking lot' ? :) Super-duper....

Just one modification if you're gonna drive it and enjoy it a lot---steeroids r&p (I know, not trad at all:eek:)....Ask BobK about his. I got one for my 63. Money well spent:cool:

Surprised nobody's suggested you've got it made, Mark

that is a great lookin vette, and the fact that you are gonna customize it just means everything is right with the world. stock restos are great if you own a museum. if you cant modify a car the way you want then whats the freakin point of owning it in the first place.

Cool car! Just don't make it a gasser, cause a Corvette to match that Impala is going to way too cool!

    Just an opinion....

    10,939 61's produced, 69,015 solid axle C1's made in total in 10 years of production (53-62)... probably less than 30K left... I've had two, a 60 and a 66.....

it's a beautiful car... drive it just the way it is... with 254 million vehicles registered in the US in 2007, you've got an extremely rare ride just the way it is...

    again, just an opinion.... :)

Xsonic clone would be perfect, (but you would need a pre 61 rear clip) You COULD do it!

Tell the purists to hug a nut- you own it, and you'll do with it what you want. Besides, the mods you mentioned, while they should really make it pop, aren't exactly extensive and irreversible.

If any purist gives you grief, just tell them "Well, if you don't like it now, you're really not gonna like it when I put the 351 Windsor in it"
