what size tire??

    whats the best tire size to use on a 15 X 3 1/2 rim
    on the front end of a Gasser ....what kind of car you ask....1951 Chev business Coupe

    165R15. Available almost everywhere, not too expensive, low rolling resistance, just the right size.

    thats what I was thinking.....theres a set on egay for $145 free shipping ....now the question is to inner tube or not to inner tube

  5. PRIMER: 165R???? Never saw a radial at any Gasser Meet prior to '71.
    Remember to keep that beast under 160 Km/Hr. if you do!!!

    well I'm trying to keep the car late 60's early 70's .....guess a radial would be ok?
    the rims are Ansen style size as mentioned above...

    why would anything over 99 mph be to much on a radial??

    racing tires are made for speed , most car tires are not . if you use a high speed tire (as europe does) , then your safe . be careful here that $$ over ride safety . there are lots of good used funny car tires that would be great . i have bought & used them often . they take them off often because of the 300 mph ... check the hot rod classifieds or a speed shop ............. steve

    so are the Hurst (recap radial tire) or Bias ply tire out of the question for the strip....you see tham all the time at the March Meet/Drag fest
