What oil?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rockabillybassman, Jan 1, 2013.

  1. I have just swapped in an 84-87 F150 manual trans behind my flathead, and need to know what oil is used in this trans, it was suggested Dexron, but isn't this an ATF?

  2. 75 w 90 gear oil is what I'm finding for most ford trucks of that vintage , dexron is a hybrid , may work , id check with a reputable parts house to be sure but I'm sure some one here will chime in

That is true and they also use atf in their 4x4 transfer cases also.
