Just curious what engine everyone has and what oil weight and type of oil you are running?
I have a 289 in my F-100 which is currently running Amzoil full synthetic.

SBC in the 36 Ford ( which now belongs to a lucky fellow in San Jose), 250 inline in 36 Chevy, run 15-40 Rotella-T and Napa Gold(WIX) filters in both. Mitch.
VR1 with high zinc
Another oil thread?????
Man, we've beat this topic to death several times. I think your question has been answered already: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/search/179893941/?q=engine+oil&o=relevance&c[title_only]=1
I'd run the Valvoline VR1 if I could get it. The Govt. took it away from us in good ol CA. a little over a year ago. I see the silver bottle once in a while, but not enough regularity to use it consistently.
Next best bet, Mobile 1, 15-50. Cars and bikes.
Its either oil , paint color, tire choice etc. What did we do before the internet ????
I like Brad Penn, Castrol is a really good oil for a roller motor. I ran it in the race car, 10W30 full syn, never had a problem and I ran alky injection.
Not correct, twice in the last month I have bought VR-1. Not much in stock, so I always buy at least 2 gallons just in case. They also had some quart bottles
Valvoline 20/50 with high zink in 383 stroker solid lifter motor.....
I run Quaker State 10-40 in my car. I have run Quaker State for years
Our Rural King, it's like a tractor supply only bigger, has it for $4.99 a qt.
Back when my 350 was leaking about a half quart a week, I put in the cheapest stuff I could find. Finally tore it down, and it actually wasn't worn that much inside. I was shocked to say the least!
Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5-20 in my Y-Block with 1/2 bottle of Lucas ZDDP. The engine specs call for 20-20W but since it was hard to find I used 10-30. Wanting to keep all oil passages clean and flowing I recently started to 5-20. I change once a year which is right at 2000 miles. I use a Wix 51515 filter at each change. It drips a little but uses no oil I can detect.
Car Quest 15w40 diesel grade in both my Flathead and my 322 Nailhead.
The cheapest stuff available is better than the best available in the '50s.
Royal Purple HPS (High Performance Street) full synthetic.
I talked to the guys from Marvel Mystery Oil last weekend at TROG Santa Barbra and they have some really good looking stuff coming out soon for vintage engines with flat tappet cams.
Flat Motor -- Shell Rotella
Been using Castrol for years. Stock and race engines. No issues so far.
We got out in the garage and worked on our cars..............
lucas nitro race oil 70wt 10 quarts
Ah, working on our cars in the "GARAGE",,,,,Now there's a concept.
Valvoline VR1 20W-50.
Anyone remember using "drain oil" ?
Amsoil Zrod or Dominator 10/30 or 10/50
15W40 Rotella in all my old engines...
