What makes your hot rod different?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 30FordNerd, Nov 29, 2012.

  1. Ha I thought that you were going to say it was different because it didn't have a flathead in it. LOL :D

Hey is that Ford color? Looks good.

:D Thanks, Benno. Nah, it's a "custom" blend of green and black enamel....in other words, I didn't have enough of either, so I dumped it all in a big can and sprayed it. I call it Shitbox Green. :D

    A few things:

It's made from an MGB roadster
    It's been widened 11"
    It has C4 Corvette suspension
It has a custom windshield made from '67 Impala glass
It has a blown LT1 Chevy engine and 6 speed
It isn't done yet (I guess that doesn't really make it very different)

So far its different because its a fat fendered car thats not a Ford... I dont see too many of Plymouths (esp. late 40's) around town...I think its also different because its going to be more of a hot rod than a custom. Other than that its a car with some family history.

My 34 p/u is different because I couldn't find a reasonably priced bed and put tool boxes on it. Some people like it but I now have a bed and plan to put it on next year to sell the truck.

That's not so different. I have one too (minus the chop).

    Good question
The only thing that makes mine different is...

    I built it
I used parts from my yard mostly.

Otherwise its just like everyone elses

  10. If you must screw up screw up like that. :D

The color came out real pleasing to my color challenged eyes. I don't know for sure what it looks like to other people but if I had to choose a "Best Color" at a show it would be right up there in the running. You done good.

(the truck itself looks pretty good as well.)

By the way my SBC isn't a corvette either. It is a kind of a frankenstien actually. It started out as a steel crank and a set of pink rods that my little brother gave me for my B day one year (they were already mine but he thought they were his because they were in his garage :D:D), and it went down hill from there. ;)

Yeah, they are from his first car. I'm very good at moving cast off parts to my part of the shop and claiming them for my own. ;):D I have no shame.

  18. I have built more cars from cast off parts than any other way myself. I thought that was how it was done.

  19. Mine is no different at all.... I feel so ashamed... its just a common 28 A tudor with a 4"chop and a flathead.... :(. Damn.....

  20. Hey Voodoo. Your truck gives me a thrill every time I see a pic of it...shitbox green and all! Love it man!

  21. Well I dunno if it's so different just a 'glass 27 roadster with a stroked AMC/Jeep inline 6 built really cheap that goes 12.94 @ the 1/4 mile, engine built of leftover parts in the shop, nothing especially different at all...

  22. For most of places that I go just the fact that it's a 32 Chevy makes it different. Most people never saw one so it usually generates quite a few comments and conversation.

My cars aren't different. Just regular ol' cars that I drive a lot. I am enjoying this thread, however. Interesting stuff. Keep it coming!

  29. Yep lots of unique stuff. You cars may be more differenter than you think. You drive 'em right? I haven't even started on my next rod so that makes yours different than mine.
