I'm building a Plymouth 1932 2 door sedan. And if that's not enought I'm building as much as I can of MoPar parts. The parts I'm not getting from old MoPars I get from cars that are NOT Ford or GM.

    Plymouth -37 front axle
    Dodge 8 3/4 rear
    Chrysler 833 4speed
    Dodge 360 V8 - 84
    Desoto -35 wheels
    Plymouth -36 gauge
    Plymouth -65 steering collumn
    Plymouth -36 headlights

    NO Ford, NO Chevy

  4. That's interesting!! In my country you can find Ford and GM cars from 1920 and 1930 and some other brands like Rugby 4 cylinders, Whippet 4 , Dodge, Durant 6 cylinders, Plymouth, chrysler and more.

  7. This is my next one, someone will say its not a hot rod because it is a boat fender car. It will be different just because it is a '38 standard, no one likes 'em.

I love 38 standards, they remind me of the So Cal Plating Special.

I think I have the only altered wheelbase Buick powered 55' Studebaker Champion on planet earth, but I could be wrong.

One of mine is an International ( farm truck in the avitar) .
The other is going to be a speedster I think. Using a 1923 Moon cowl, 1949 Dodge hood pieces for the tail end and model A running gear, with a Fordson gas tank. Need to gather a few more parts and it will be build time. HPIM0703.jpg

Beaner, now that is a car and it will be a real HOT ROD!! I love the 38 standards, we have had one in the family that has been a Hot Rod for over 40 years.
It was my Fathers, then passed on to me, it was my daily driver for about 10 years. When I started on a new project I was talking to my parents about it and I could see how much they missed the car. So on the pretext of selling it to them a Friend of the family and my Mum came and picked it up. (I lived in NSW, they are in Victoria)
When my Father and I talked about paying for the car later I told him not to worry about it, the car has always been his.
That is what makes that car different, the family, the history and the memory's in the car...........Not to mention it was the only Hot Rodded 38 Standard Club Coupe in Australia for a long time!!

Like I said before mate, it will be a true Hot Rod on every level. Screw they who are not smart or broad minded enough to see that.

  15. I never worry about what someone else thinks about what I drive. I would not own a car that I didn't like. While I cannot put my finger on it there is just something about the standard that floats my boat.

My current project started out as a fordor sedan and now the body has been modified into a rpu. I guess that is a little different. :)

The rear suspension is a little unusual too.

Found my 1930 Ford Roadster body in 1962, all the parts I've collected from friends over the years make me think of them and the great times we had together, many have since passed on. My Grandson will get the pile to finish. Bob

    Different? Mine's not chopped... :D

The main thing that I've pushed to be "different" is the engine. I get a lot of questions on what it is... It's just a small Ford, '65 289 out of my first car, but it's got some rare parts that make it different.

4x2 ManAFre intake, Keystone Valve covers, Vertex Magneto, etc...

Well it sure isn't my "cookie cutter" 327 Chevy! I suppose it's the make and model of the car, and the fact that no matter where I go I never see another '46 Austin sedan in any form; stock or hotrod.

my pickup is titled as a 55 chev, but the front end is a 58-59 and the cab and grille are gmc. most people hate the 58-59 front end and usually switch to the single headlight front, not vice versa

    Quite rare, V-D Twin!
May be one of them Apache or Bel-Air motors.

Aside from the Ghetto Intake/Exhaust, I would say the fact that it's a Model A Banger & it's my everyday car.
