Hey, pilfered this massive thing out of an abandoned dump a few years ago and am just now getting to the point where I've got something to use it on. It's MASSIVE, and I plan on cutting it down to roughly the dimensions of a '33/'34 Ford grill shell (which, I will also need measurements for if at all possible). Thanks!

Aw gosh! A guy I used to kick it with's Dad told me exactly what it was... Like a 30's semi or something (Peterbuilt springs to mind but I doubt that's it- Seems like it started with a "P" though-)

  6. I'm guessing that those expanded metal inserts may not be original to the piece.

Scott's52 posted a pic of the grill mounted on the actual truck if you haven't seen it-
I've been out of the loop for awhile, but, don't we have some HAMB google nerds that could find this stuff in like a heartbeat??!?
(nerd is an ACRONYM for "Never-Ending-Radical-Dude", in case you didn't know)

  9. I posted my pic on the weekend on Sitting and Rotting and its not the same item, the mesh grilles do seem to be original. Seems to be a tough one. JW

    Damn Restorers, ;)!
Actually that was my first thought too, probably some guy somewhere that would love to get his hands on that shell for his truck.

  14. I would make it garage wall art before I could bring myself to cut it up.

  16. That was a one year only deal for Federal, in '38 there was a complete restyle of cab & hood.

Thanks for all the replies! So it's a '37 Federal huh? I guess while I'm tooting my horn I could post a pic of a few other grills I snagged... The '30/'31 pontiac(?) or was it oldsmobile? took the most work (it's the oldest grill I've found down there)...

Poorly painted and pinstriped (after some, straightening, cutting & welding....

Also have 2 Nash grills (I was planning on turning sideways),

And what may be an old boiler door, but it weighs a ton and is a little small (neat shape though)-
