  1. I have a GM Dual Point Tack Dist & I forget what the Total Dwell of it is
I know what each of Points is supposed to be
But I want to know the Total is it 38 degrees
thats what happens when you get Old
    Just my 3.5 cents
    or when the Cows
    come Home!
  2. not GM....i once had an Accel dual point , the instructions said 36 degrees total

In 1957 Chevy said this about dual point Corvettes' dwell.

The tune-up section starts over 2 dozen pages earlier.

The very first step was removing the spark plugs, followed immediately by a compression test.
The ignition points were inspected and adjusted, not necessarily replaced ( and adjusted). Even the points spring tension was checked and adjusted if necessary. Plus torquing the manifolds, head bolts, measuring the cranking voltage, and a whole bunch more. It is most unfortunate that tune up degenerated to plugs-n-points.
