Running a mild sbc 350/300hp, street cam and a turbo 350 trans, in a 2400 lb car. What is the correct converter? Is there a formula? Not worried about mpg, just good street manners and occasional burnouts.

18-2300 stall, you don't have much torque and it'll realistically engage around 14 or 1500, just enough so you can sit at a traffic light without loading up the engine. Much more stall and the torque converter won't lock up properly when cruising and create heat. Remember torque converter salesmen always exaggerate, they think of street machine types where more is better. Get the one from BossHog, dirt cheap and works great - I've used three of them on the 290HP GM crate motor and they work great.
