    the best thing to do with that motor is convert to gas. with bore and stroke you could have as much as 452 cid small block olds.

    The Olds 350 was a weird choice for a diesel version: one of the most oversquare engines ever. One would have expected the designers to begin with something with a longer stroke.
     
  10. Im a sucker for blown 392 Chrysler Hemis, so that'd be my first choice. Second would be a DOHC 427 Ford.

    5.7 Diesel Dyno project from the 80's, 400 cu. in. w/ a custom stroker crank dated 1984, haven't figured out where to use it, maybe my jet boat. The injection pump was governed @ 6000 rpm, don't know if it went that high on the dyno.

    Ford 427 SOHC would do nicely, especially with an injected 6-71 on top.
