Electrical Engineer doing commercial grade parts dedication testing for Nuclear Power Plants. We make sure the parts going in meet the specs we require for safe plant operation. The new Alloy Analyzer is cool to use, learning about materials from the Metalurgist, and the Chemist are a cool bunch. We also do Mechanical dedication testing and Failure analysis. It was real cool when a plant sent us two 12-71 Blowers off a standby Diesel to figure out why the bearings failed. They did want them back for rebuild though. Get to see a lot of cool stuff and meet a lot of great car guys.

Me and my son build old Flathead fords, and old school motorcycles. We just built a motorcycle for Edwin Mccain. We need more to build to get us through the winter

  19. After learning a little about mechanics and fab work as a farm kid and a short stint being a heavy equipment mech in the U.S. Air Force, I have 20 years with the same employer.
First year starting over in a new job in a city (not a podunk farm town), 13 years in the driveline shop Turdytoo started, now another six years on the parts counter selling everything from a custom bent suspension u-bolt, a clutch job on a KW, or a driveshaft for a dirt/drag/hotrod/big truck customer, or maybe a power takeoff box that can drive a 10,000 psi 425 hp water pump for natural gas drilling stuff. Maybe burn up the phone lines to find suspension or gear parts for a mid '60's heavy hauler application.
I still can't get interested in front wheel drive shit boxes, and I have a hard time calling out which one it is when seeing them in traffic.
Tech guy and parts finder specializing in mostly larger than 2 ton trucks, unless it has anything to do with driveshafts and I'm all about it.
