We have run wire wheels on our Lincoln for nearly 20 years. We just had a wheel go bad and the new one is backordered for 4-6 months.
with the help of Mark Moriarity who located a NOS set of steel wheels for us we got them mounted today.

we had two sets of Lincoln hubcaps the first set is pretty plain but has NO dents, we would probably need to add a bullet and some spinners.

The 2nd set has a colored center but is actually more red than it looks in the photo, but they also have several dents that Rob will need to try to get out.

So Mark, we finally have caps on her LOL

which do you guys think we should run? Thanks!!! caps 1.jpg

I think either set would be ok, but would be better with a large bullet in the center

I like either set better than the wires, so that's already a plus. I like the red centered ones and I think they'd lose something with a bullet, but I like the star centers in those caps even more than the shield. The first caps are kinda plain for a custom. They would be improved greatly with the bullet.

I know it's not listed as an option but I bet Fiesta or Lancer caps would also look nice.

The top set isn't stars, I think the stars on on 56-57 caps, they are actually a shield also, but smaller and just a tiny bit of color.

  8. Say Lincoln Lady, if either set of the caps you have won’t work I have a set of ‘49 caps if you want them.

  11. I think I'd paint the edge of the wheel red, the part that's now black. And I like the caps with the red centers.

I think this is what @chryslerfan55 was referring too. I had a set, but thought they looked good on a 47 I did for a guy. He wanted flippers. Scan0165.jpg Scan0166.jpg

The top photo. They pop more. The one with the red center is kind of plain jane. Looks like a plate with a apple in the cemter.

  15. The 1st set is beautiful, very elegant. Fits the car perfectly.

    The 2nd set lacks elegance.

IMHO wire wheels do not look good on postwar cars, with very few exceptions.

That said, cancel the order for the wires and buy the 1st set from Moriarity.

I like the first set without the centers. More refined and doesn't detract the eye from the overall beauty of the car. Very nice automobile!

  18. the first set by a mile.
Add a bit of body color to the centers with an artist's brush

Ok, the 49's I saw a pic of were the ones I thought according to the photo that got added. Thanks, but neither of us were a fan of those.
