Loose the zoomies, add fenders and a bed and it would be alright.

Yeah, I agree, those pipes are ridiculous. You want a "rat rod" to get yourself some attention? You got it.

Would Lake Style headers look better?

  10. I think so.

Could be really cool with no hood sides, lakes-style headers, & a full hood top.

Sorry to be so harsh above but those trucks were SO gorgeous originally that it is hard for me to get excited about a major deviation from stock.

I appreciate the feed back...I love the open wheel no hood look and wanted to do something radical w/ the pipes...I guess I should not have...

it's a good start. think hard about putting back what ya took off, and chuck that copy of Ol Skool Rodz in the trash can. too many of what you have right now, everywhere. hose off that Windsor and shoot some Engine Color on it. picture that black truck, with S-bar nerfs, and lakes pipes; full hood, consistent color of primer (not patchy or fake patina) and maybe a lucky13 girl on the rear fenders (painted on, not a sticker!)

Would look better with fenders and bed, these trucks don't need much... a little change in stance, tires and hot-rod mods to the flathead, & you're good to go.

    My opinion, but you asked....

Any thing 35 and up should have fenders it's hot rodding
101...well you now know the answer to the pipes...
Put the fenders and everthing else back on it..sell it
And buy an earlier car to make a fenderless hot rod..

Or keep it and drive the piss out of it...

I hope it does not rain where you park it. That exhaust is simply a funnel for water.. Where is the rest of the truck? Hard to be a truck without a bed.

  19. As much as I like those trucks in stock trim, if all a guy has to start with is a cab & frame, I like a well-done Rudy truck too.

With these trucks, you have to go all or nothing. Anywhere in between gets funky fast.

Still looking for a bed...I think i might build one. I might run it this summer w/ out a bed..

  21. Lake pipes front fenders at least and hood as above. Close up, it looks like you did a pretty good job on the zoomies at least.
A wooden flat bed with wooden side stakes and rails if you go with no rear fenders.

  22. Don't drive it until you finish it. Good motivation for getting it right.

I agree with most on here, add some fenders, hood and a bed. Lose the headers...I love those 35-36 Ford trucks.

A bed just came on ebay for $175 in Lake Havasu city Arizona but no shipping , I'm taking my boat there Memorial day weekend and could probably grab it and drop it at a forward air type place for you if you have everything set up . Just an idea .

I'm going with the crowd on this one..........shit can the headers, put the fenders back on, if you can't find a bed, build it as a flatbed for now.

Some diesel stack "popper" valves would let you drive it in the rain.

Original fenders and beds for 35/36 trucks can be tough to find, but aftermarket beds and 'glass fenders are always an option til the real thing comes along... also, the Rudy look would not be bad at all.
The way you have the exhaust configured is little more than a carbon monoxide bomb. Be carefull.
