Bone stock 53 buick...the family cruiser and my daily driver..

inline 8 and three on the tree...

I like the color and was thinking maybe metal flake or candy in a similar color...
Thought about dropping it 4 inches or so and removing the dagmars....nose and deck it etc....spider caps or astros if $$ allows

    Any ideas?? photo choppers?

If you do anything to that car other than drop it hard and add dual exhausts, you do need a frontal lobotomy! What a great cruiser!

don't ruin it! it looks fine the way it is. the car is what it is to nice to mess with and not the right car for anything you mentioned. sell it and buy something with the money that will look right for what you want to do. just my 2%.

I've got springs for it right now to go and drop it....had em layin around...the paint is good for a 100 footer but there is some bubbling on the rockers...no rust yet...I really want a nice subtle custom...something that stands out from the ...an honestly no offense cause I love em....Ford and Chevy crowd...I should mention it's my driver and taking it apart is not an option, I have to get to work on mondays...

It's a clean car man don't cheapen it by following trends........ Lower it and drive it. Later when you decide what you really want it will be easier to sell

Ok, if you want something "special" done to it. have some classy pin stripes put on it.
maybe some spot lights and lakes pipes. many people here wish they had a car that looked good at a 1/8 mile much less 100'

Take the side chrome trim off of it and send it to me for my shoebox.

I think it'd look cool 2 toned with white inside the swoopy side trim to match the roof. That's how my dad's Roadmaster is painted and it looks really good that way.

I've been searching for a pin striper in the springs and I do seriously consider adding white below the trim....the wife has demanded that the trim go nowhere....so the side trim is going to stay.... I want a nice classy sled...clean lines no fuss

Another vote for just some lowering and I like the white below the trim idea.
You've got a very nice car there.

Fender skirts are always a plus in my eyes. Especially with a slamed car. Oh, and good luck with finding that intake! If you find two, pick the other up for me!

    Things I learned today:

    1. spring compressors are easier that disconnecting the rear shocks to remove the rear springs

    2. the upper spring retainer in the rear can be thread in a bit and the spring twisted to fit right into place

    3. lower control arms are a B@$ch to get back in place when you remove them from the 4 bolts on the frame

    4. a screwdriver will guide them right back into place....

    5. 79 el camino springs are WAY too wide to fit in the front of a 53 buick... they don't fit the buckets of the control arms....buckets having roughly 6.5 inches of clearance and the springs for the camino are 6.75 in wide...
I will find new springs for the front. they have to be about 5.5 inches wide like the stock ones

    6. Jeep Grand Cherokee springs lower the rear of my buick nicely... and are very stiff

    Yep ... there ya go.

The only "direction" I'd head with it is down the road with a big shiteatin' grin on my face.:D
