Not really a big visual change from just a few days ago, but I'm pleased to report this is the latest picture of my Model A after having driven it the first time....about 2 miles. Seems like it's been a long time coming but it was worth the wait and the work. It actually drove pretty nicely!

My 46 pickup, I don't have much of a bed to put on her. My friend Bob found me this wrecker boom. Here it is pulling my brother's heavy ass F150 up our hill to rewind the cable. Remember, it's all just for fun............or maybe compulsion:

I spent the morning transporting painted parts for my '40 PU, and the afternoon getting the chassis out of storage, for completion this Winter. IMG_7942.JPG IMG_7945.JPG IMG_7946.JPG

Spent a little time dialing in the new dual quad carbs, it was loading up at idle, causing the engine to stumble, and blowin' some black exhaust when clearing it out. I leaned out the idle air/fuel screws a little and smoothed out the idle, I'll probably have to mess with it more but it's running better now. Then I took her out for a full tank of gas, 9 gallons worth, at the cheapest station in town, $4.09 per gal. (be careful who you elect to your state government....) That's up over a dime since the last time I filled it. Anyway, brought her home and wiped her down, ready for the poker run tomorrow. I'm hoping she runs good when were out there amongst all the other hot rods.

I also brushed off the 47 coupe and wiped her down good. She'll have to wait till Sunday to get to stretch her legs.

  11. Made a little box thing to go behind the speaker grille and let air out. Forgot to bring the torch; so had to use the wire feed on this thin stuff. Makes for the whatever they are called bumps on the inside. Started to cut down the depth of the glove box and learned the vendors patterns are off; never had a problem with other year repop boxes, maybe it's a '41 thing.

  16. I have been trying to free the rear brakes on my OT project hauler. its not a hot rod but it is mine.
There is some pieces of a hot rod in my garage and I did give them a good look. Does that make me a hot rod voyeur? LOL

Oh yes! Took the pickup on a poker run this morning, first outing with the new carbs, Damn, it runs good! Really stoked with the way these worked out. Not perfect, but really close, and damn it sure runs better than the dual 2 barrels I had on there before. Really responsive, very smooth, no hesitation; well, maybe a little here and there, but much better than before, pulls cleanly in top gear from down low, and really strong. I'm feeling good.

I'll post more photos later, maybe a separate thread, here's the lineup when I got there.

Washed off the bugs and dirt from last weekend’s trip. Rolled in to the garage, parked for the winter. I’ll change the oil and winterize it, probably next weekend along with changing the garage over to “winter” configuration.

I don’t mind winter weather, but it does kinda suck to be off the road for the next few months.

I am still moving forward. I finished the radiator support and got the radiator and the trans. cooler mounted. I need a upper hose and some plug wires, a battery ( they have went through the roof ) and a few other odds and ends I am still undecided about a fan I am leaning towards a clutch set up if it will fit. studebaker build 006.JPG studebaker build 007.JPG studebaker build 008.JPG And I have to make a driveshaft loop. Then it will be on to putting some brake fluid in and see about getting some stopping power!

    - whatever fan you decide on be sure to install a full fan shroud - that large trans cooler location may block/disrupt direct air going through radiator

Yes , a fan shroud is on the list.

  26. Convinced the glove box liner to fit and made the final cut off the depth. Made a hammer form out of some scrap wood and beat on some aluminum for a new back wall. Even a special double hole pattern in the aluminum cause shit happens. Need to glue some black vinyl on and rivet it in place to finish.

  27. The clock in my car has never worked. Discovered that an option for my car when new was a stem-wind clock made by Westclox. After a several year hunt, finally found one in good working order. So, I’m now the only kid on the block with a wind-up dash clock! 80DD4E27-B5B9-407B-9686-C03B3E85E5ED.jpeg 7A34B6C3-617D-4FC5-8FD6-697DB6D36C34.jpeg
