Cosmetic restoration.paint cleaner and valve covers, redoing all wiring.
Now it should pass historical vehicle inspection.
Here it not have to be 100% original but it should look like it.so no worries about trifive radiator.

I’m just hoping I have something to add to this thread soon. The key word missing in most of what I have been working on is “your”. I think I have worked on everything but my junk for quite a while now.

Well, spoke too soon I guess. Decided to get the GMC at least pushed in the shop so I can get started.

After a few mild test passes a few weeks ago I blew my FED apart to clean sandblast and paint everything. There's just a few niggling things remaining to take care of but otherwise it's ready to go to the track again.

From an assortment of tubing on the floor to what you see here took about 20 months.

I would think it would make some VERY good noise.

  17. Uncrated the new roadster motor. I've had it since March but have resisted the urge because I wasn't ready for it. I got over that! Old motor I had for it had been setting for quite a while, I got paranoid about it.
I am impressed with BluePrint engines' crating, it was very well done.

Totally boring but necessary, I changed to E10-compatible fuel hoses (thanks EU:mad:), bled the brakes and then struggled with the blinker switch for fu$/ing hours until I got the thing to work as it should (does "Chinesium" explains it?). Need to sort out some bad insulation on the wiring loom done by someone else, go for a test drive and then at last get the car inspected. Was all supposed to happen last month. Don't you love it when life happens.

On a positive note I washed my rear light lenses. There are advantages to being old and ugly with no woman to bother you about such things.

I cut out the steel for the front floor section for my roadster, rolled beads into it, and tacked together the cover for the rear crossmember. IMG_8427.jpeg

Well I lied, because the blinker mechanism required yet another 3 hours before I finally go it to properly work by carefully heating it and arching it so that it puts enough pressure on the change-over contacts. Came back today with dealer plates I borrowed off a friend and took the car for a test drive and adjusting the brakes which I did at this place where the local farmers keep all manner of veggies (they usually lock it up because - surprisingly - people use it for drifting and stuff, but not this time). I think I got it to the stage where once the brakes are properly warmed up the car stops in a straight-ish line so hopefully I'll pass the inspection next Thursday. I know this is a trad forum but there's a good reason why discs are better... Next year.

Upon returning to base I discovered a screw securing one of the exhaust hangers to the chassis rails departed us (inspection fail here in Austria) so found one willing to replace it.

Other than the above everything else did what it's supposed to do, I have good oil pressure and the engine stays below 200°f, the McLeod 5sp does not seem to get hot or make really bad noises so maybe I'll get to enjoy the car this year before the big freeze.
