Another day, more busy work. Today was the green coupe's turn- I'm taking the four barrel off and putting my home made 2 carb unit back on ( this was part of the original build some years ago). Two single throat Holleys on a machined 3/4" block off plate made by a friend of mine who used to design tools for Ingersoll Rand in Portsmouth, NH. Carbs were originally on slant 6 Dodges. Looks more like a PacMan with a big set of uppers to me. Should smooth out what ever it bites with ease.

  7. Building my dream garage. In the last three days, my son and I shovelled 8 cubic yards of fill to repair drainage, which is a requirement for me to get my permit. Put in new pipe, and am now in the process of back filling. The difficult part, is that I own an excavator, but there wasn't room to use it for this job.
I still have 150 yards of material to move out, then it is a matter of pouring the floor, footings, and the foundation. I have the 2000 sq ft building, so it will go quickly once the foundation is done.
I am really stoked, because last year, I was too ill to pick up a shovel.
I'll be 75 in 6 days, so it is a matter of getting this stuff done as quickly as possible. Time is running out.

20180709_122909.jpg Cleaned and rearranged the shop this weekend to bring back an old dead project I started a few years back. I had started lowering this Unibody and ran into a few snags so I back-burnered it until I had some more knowledge to work thru it. My buddy Max Gearhead helped me and gave me some ideas so here we go.....Had to throw a dummy engine in it to get the front end a little closer to how it is gonna ride to check clearances so I thought I'd have some fun with some do-dads.... 20180709_105435.jpg

  10. Been brutally hot the past 10 days but Saturday it cooled off enough for me to change the plugs on my '59 Ford, looks like I have to drop the primary jets a number or so. But it runs amazingly better.

  12. chopped half a coil off the passenger front spring on a 63 Galaxy 500 to level the car out. will be pulling the rusted fuel tank after lunch. Then maybe start fabricating up rear ac for a '63 Chevrolet suburban since we got the vintage air unit in for that.

Us crazy people (I think that’s what the rest of the country refers to us as?) out here in Phoenix are cleaning up some messes today. And we were running for cover instead of driving hot rods or cooking eggs on the street yesterday, if you can believe that... The monsoon season is in full swing here and normally we only get one heavy storm a year and it usually only affects one small part of town. Welp, NOT ON THIS DAY!

We had a humdinger come in from the far east part of the valley and it tore across to the far west side of the valley with fast winds and heavy rain pounding on everything the entire way. Recorded 70 mph winds, somewhere around 70k or so without power and a lot of damaged property and downed power lines across the entire greater Phoenix area. I’ve lived here my entire life (a short, but eventful 25 years) and have never seen a monsoon maintain that kind of strength and cause that much damage across that much landscape before. I have seen some pretty scary and dangerous storms in the time that I lived in northern Arizona as a kid, but this surpassed those in the speed it had and amount of damage it caused.

Of course I have photos of the carnage!

I saw all of this in the Mesa area, near where I live (little ways east of Phoenix) while on my way to get dinner last night. All happened within the span of 3 aisles.

These are viewer photos posted by some of the big local news affiliates, just for reference of the damage. First got hit by the dust storm and all hell broke loose behind it. These photos are from all over the valley, Gold Canyon, which is where this all gathered steam, about 45 minutes east of Phoenix, to Glendale/Peoria, which is just west/north west of Phoenix.

  20. I'm not sure who makes it, I got it in a package deal from a private seller, it does have 2 capped off ports but look to be 1/8 npt maybe. 20180710_171631.jpg 20180710_171601.jpg

Stopped by the AACA setup area for the show in town this weekend. IMG_20180710_180222054_HDR.jpg IMG_20180710_180236917_HDR.jpg The lone swap meet vendor had a couple of cool pieces. '40 Chevy dash and the Buick radio was unknown.
He said that the show wasn't hot rod oriented. they'll get plenty of foot traffic this weekend. It's bike week also here.
This pedal tractor caught my eye. The steering wheel is unique, so simple. IMG_20180710_180432763_HDR.jpg IMG_20180710_180455875_HDR.jpg

Finally fixed my damn brake pedal so it properly returns and doesn't leave the brake switch made. Drove it this morning - went out later afternoon and damn battery was flat from the brake lights being locked on

  27. pulled intake on 390 fe, intake gaskets are all f-ed. looks like who ever assembled the engine had a chubby for black silicone its all over the gaskets and they look horrible. going to redo it to hopefully stop the internal coolant leak.

Getting this ready for a Concours show. First judged show since restoration. 1957 Fairlane E-code, 3sp OD, 411 posi, A/C, PW, PS, PB, power seat. I installed a ton of NOS parts on this since the owner aggressively collected them for over 30 years.

At least this didn’t happen... This one occurred during a storm last year, don’t know the extent of damage, but hopefully it was moved into the garage after that.
