Fiddled with the adjustments on this

after the rebuild kit and new front bowl. Got the idle pretty close, might still have to bump it a little more for not yet fully warmed up, in gear, and braked. Doesn’t stall, but feels like it wants to. Idle screw is only about 2/3 turn in. 17” Hg vacuum at idle in Park.

    Test drive feels good.

Working on figuring out if I have a cooling system problem or not. Coolant level isn’t stable yet, but may still be burping out a few bubbles after refilling it a couple weeks ago.

Next up is fixing the speedometer. It’s reading about 10 MPH faster than my GPS says I’m actually doing. 38 tooth driven gear now, looks like a 44 tooth would make it right.

  3. ...Got the frame finished tearing apart,
Sand blasted, minor things fixed and primed. May reflip it and get colour on it. This evening...

Drove a flivver around my yard.

  5. Nice and clean but you can still remove these two pieces of scrap. They should be triangle pieces, about 6"x 6".

You might say its a Hybrid. It's a 55 with the roof, windshield, dash and doors from a 56. I think it was done many years ago. I didn't even know it wasn't stock until after I started working on it and posted pics on FTE.

Having had both style cabs, I prefer the tank
under the cab. It frees up a little space in the cab
and seems safer. I never had a problem with the behind the seat style. Those are really great trucks. rugged, stylish and the the 272 with the Fordomatic ran for years problem free.

    From the BillyBob Shop log

May 27th 2020 With the new windshield in place, I can reinstall the adjacent interior items. The original windshield hinge cover is a thin sheet metal item, rusted out at one end. Repair of this item is beyond my present skill set. I got a fiberglass replacement hinge cover and wiper motor access covers from Jeff at Bowtie bits. The hinge cover is a nice item, the access covers, not so much. They will need some work due to uneven and ragged edges.

Deerslayer's wiper motor was not made for this truck. It worked fine but was too big for the hinge cover to conceal. It stuck out of the access opening as a result. No big deal but I decided to make a change for the rebuild. Ordered a wiper kit for the truck from Chevy's of the forties and it is in transit . . . to the wrong location. I've tried to let UPS know where I want it delivered but have been unsuccessful thus far.

In the meantime, the a-post covers went in the EvapoRust soup to clean the surface rust off their backsides. Beer of the day was Wild Ride Brewing's Nut Crusher Peanut Butter Porter.

Broken right side lower shock mount. Also the leaf spring clamp.
    Re-enforced replacement.

I was fortunately able to find a pair that my friend Mike donated to the cause.

  19. Late model off topic windshield job, and cut the frame horns off of this truck. Cut some off of a 65 and put them on this frame so i could put the bumper on. This truck is on a 69 frame. That's it so far ;) Screenshot_20200527-133819_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200527-133821_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20200527-133824_Gallery.jpg

I don't post off topic stuff here anymore because that's why the original thread was closed. Just sayin'

Could have been some of my posts contributed to the closing of the other thread. I don't know. No need to get butthurt. It's unbecoming.

Whoever just deleted my last post on finishing up the paint on that truck, you better go back and delete all of the other posts about the same damn truck. I know we focus on pre 65 here, but that's obviously not the focus on this thread. Jeez, there isn't very many post on this thread that are on topic. Better get busy with your delete button.

Why go somewhere else and get cheated? Come see me first!

  25. Started sorting out a bunch of engine pulleys I had stashed in a box. Trying to decipher what they fit, thinking I will put them in the classifieds later. A link from an old post led me to this site..: http://www.gmpartswiki.com/query and it helped a whole lot. Had everything but one listed.
Oh yeah...I ate INSIDE a restaurant..! woo hoo!

The other thread seemed to be turning into more "better homes and gardens" and less "hot rods and hoodlums". Perhaps somewhat understandable given the state of affairs at the time. I doubt that your particular post was solely responsible.

I made a trunk key, because I had to get the trunk open, and didn't want to wait for shipping....

ugly, but it works. 27 Ford coupe.

  28. Lol I'm not butthurt :D Misunderstood the other thread, seen guys that had been here for 20 years posting their gardens and house remodels, thought it was ok to post bodyshop pictures. It was completely my mistake ;). And i won't do it again. :) but a 65 Chevy truck is more on topic than Linda Vaughn on a 1970 cutlass :p
