    progress!

use the senders (or lines) off the original old truck engine, since they match the gauges in the truck.

You'll have to deal with the transmission crossmember, eh? the truck probably has a mount under the bellhousing, the new transmission needs one at the back of the trans. maybe you could swipe the crossmember from the van?

think about the driveshaft...maybe the one from the van will work, might need to be shortened?

how about the radiator, are the hoses on opposite sides? would the van radiator fit in the truck?

So the sensors that go into the intake I dont need I just cap them???

  3. You can either abandon them in place or remove them. Again, you will need a temperature sender, installing/adapting the one from the original motor to the 351 will be the easiest fix.

  4. C6 transmissions are tough and hard to kill. I've seen many of them going strong at 200.000 +. The rear end ratio in the truck was a good match for a six and three on the tree, but probably a lower gear than you really want with the 351 and C6. The rear from the Econoline will probably be too wide to use whole. If it's a 9" under the Econoline, you may be able to just swap the pumpkin. That way, your speedometer would read correctly. Your speedometer reading would be way off if you use the rear end ratio that's in the truck. See if the Econoline radiator is dimensionally close to the one in the truck, if it is and it's in good shape, use it since it has the transmission cooler built in. If you can't use the Econoline radiator, you're going to need an aftermarket transmission cooler mounted in front of the radiator. There's plenty of room to mount the biggest cooler you can find, especially if you plan to do pulling or hauling with it. No automatic trans ever failed from over-cooling. Looks like you have a pretty solid old truck. Pulling the whole drivetrain from one donor vehicle is a good strategy as you are using components that were designed to work together. If you're in the country where you can get by with it and can put it out of sight on your property, think of the old van body as a free storage building. You'd be lucky to get $200 for it for scrap, and it would cost you more than that to build a storage building of the same dimensions. Before you start cutting wires, remember that the electrical system in the F100 was designed for a generator rather than alternator, and in 1962 a pickup was "loaded" if it had a radio, heater, and white sidewalls. The F100's wiring is 53 years old, probably frayed and spliced in umpteen places. See how much of the Econoline's wiring harness you can use. It's free for the taking, and the scrap metal man won't give you a nickel more if you leave the wiring harness in it. Even little freebies off the Econoline may be worth saving. The headlight switch on the F100 predates halogen headlights; the Econoline has a headlight relay and switch that is rated for halogen lights. If the F100 has vacuum wipers, see if you can use the electric wiper motor and switch from the Econoline, and remember that the Econoline wiring harness will plug right up to it. As others have said, you might as well pick that Econoline clean to the bone.

On some of the Ford engines with EGR system can be tricky to keep from pinging if you try to remove it or don't hook up the vacuum to it.

So is the alternator gonna hook up different than the original generator?

I love the seat cover! The drive train swap should be straightforward.
    Good Luck!

And that is exactly why you should hook up the park/neutral safety switch! On that note, where you find you need to make wiring changes, take the time to do them right the first time. Rushing through the little things, and big things for that matter, will surely have you trying to trace intermittent problems at the most inopportune times. Good luck!

Inopportune... what? What could be more fun than having your date standing in the rain, shivering in her fancy clothes holding a flashlight while you try to find why the truck won't start? Hell, it started every time before.

Dirt cheap would be going to the local pick a part and finding a Ford car with a floor shift automatic that came with a C 6 and getting the shifter and linkage off the console and maybe making a stand on the floor to raise the shifter up a tad to reach it easier. As far as aftermarket I think Mr Gasket has one that is designed for trucks that isn't outrageously spendy.
