Thought I'd post a photo of what my friend Kev did with a '57 4 door post rust bucket. He actually turned it into an El Camino Roadster. Just a thought if you have one sitting.

That's actually not it... he said it was so bad he never even took a photo of the actual car, until it was too late. Found it in a Hog lot by Glenwood Iowa with no suspension underneath it.

Hmmm, I have been unable to sell my 4-door '61 F-85. I happen to own a Saw-Zall and have indoor parking. I wonder what hacking the top off a unibody would do? My guess is it would fold like a taco if you open both doors at once without the proper underbody bracing.

That's what they make rectangular tubing and welders for... i have just handed Kevin a totally shot 55 4 door Chevy to make me a new version of the same thing with... but it's #4 in line on projects. Maybe next summer.

I've had several more doors....over it!! Unless of course it's a pre-War more door!
I do like a good more door faux roadster though!

Shorten it up to 13" ONLY.
Use part of the rear door skin to fill the 1/4 panel.
    Section it around 3-4".
Make it a roadster or carson top with windows.
Chop w-shield to hardtop glass height.
With the 102" wheelbase it would be the same proportions and size as a '57 vette or T-bird with a chevy body.
Hotrod Mechanix had a detailed article on doing it with a '55 Pontiac years ago when there was a Hotrod Mechanix Mag except they didn't section it, which I think it would need.

I agree with ol'skool29 lol! My first car was a 65GTO and I got so tired of getting out or leaning forward to let someone out of the back seat. Let them get out their OWN DOOR :p

    "A Door for Every Seat!"

and I love the '57 conversion :) Kevin did a great job.

One of these days, I'm gonna take a 70 Malibu 4 door and a 70 El Camino and make it into a 4 door "crew cab" El Camino!
  19. Im seein a four door post, cut into a two door convert, and its cool, but where does the El Camino part come in?
More pics would be great, we like pics. :D
