Technical What are you working on?

  1. Kid got his last brace fabricated for his jeep floor

  2. Slowly working on my '63 Riv. Going the mild custom/lowrider type route. Riv purists will probably hate what I am doing but got to cut things up to be somewhat original. Will be on hydraulics in the front and bags in the back ala Marcos Garcia's 90's build Riviera. It is going to get some further badge and antenna removal(not sure about door handles) Needs paint and will be redoing the interior so it will be a long term project.

I was thinking 2 more on each side, but I like it.

Are those 1950 Pontiac tail lights?

  7. My personal opinion is that the car is to square and slab sided for round bubble lights, although corvair did it that way

  8. I cut the script out of a 6 cyl valve cover to use under my tailgate, dropped it off at a shop to get butt welded in, but instead they recessed my panel and used panel bond to attach it.

It has became a pain in my ass trying to get it smoothed in, the recess and the piece are not flush to the panel and there's no access to get to it from behind now.
This was yesterday's attempt but today I went back with a different approach, sadly it'll never be flush with just the script protruding like I had envisioned.

IMO, that's a good look. Maybe not what you wanted, but I like it:)

Based on your other builds, that 36 is going to look great!

  13. I'm just disappointed that the surrounding area around the script isn't flat. When they recessed the panel it raised the outside edge of the recess in spots higher than the panel, then other places the cutout script material is higher.
So if you try to use filler to cover the high recess spots it makes the script look recessed instead of flush, definitely trying my patience to get some kind of evenness across it.

  15. Yes

The headlights are round and bubble on this slab sided car as well don't see too many people comment about those.

20241029_154519.jpg This big Pontiac is filling the engine bay completely....headers almost touching frame rails, distributor almost touching firewall....fan is about 3/4" from radiator. Spent the afternoon playing with pulley combo's just to run wp and alternator. I am well versed in Chevrolet ...Pontiac is a learning curve:p

In quiring minds wanted to know if this is '35 or '36. Now we know. Keep us up-to-date please.

  21. I say the body is early 35 and the front is 36. JW

    Oh...

I thought all '35 and '36 bodies were the same.

What's the clue that this is a '35?

    Sides of the cowl
36 has an x stamping and 3 rubber bumpers for the hood
Late 35 has x stamping and the hood lacing goes all the way down

Here’s a better pic with running boards. I personally don’t care if the body is 35 or 36, got a smokin deal on it and you can’t tell when the hood is on IMG_1217.jpeg
