I'm not 100% sure if I get one or not, but if I do I guess I'm with you. Both of my bathrooms need to be redone, I need a piece of concrete poured in front of my garage door and I need a new subfloor in my front hallway. If I can get one of those things accomplished I guess I'll be happy.

Although 600 one dollar bills could be turned into 1200 titties in my face at the "gentlemen's club".....

Two thoughts that are not so funny:
    1. What the government giveth, the government can taketh away. (bigger taxes later)
    2. This is Redistribution of Wealth 101(socialism, communism and the like)and believe it or not, most wealthy people did not get that way by stealing. I'm one of those that barely makes it into the government's "rich" category and I sure don't feel like it. I do, though, still feel blessed to live in THE greatest country in the world and in the history of civilization.

My wish for this country is see the Dept. of Education disappear and for young people to actually get an education; one that teaches the importance of further education, economics, ethics, investments, patience, self-discipline and self-reliance in addition to the 3Rs. I firmly believe that its an uneducated general populace and the politicians they elected that have caused the economic problems that exist today. We want it now. We want it for nothing. If we can't be responsible for it later, we want someone to bail us out. That someone is always the federal government, a.k.a. Joe taxpayer. This problem sorta reminds me of the age old question. Why can't an alternater perpetually generate electricity to run the electric motor that turns the alternator, perpetually?(or something like that) It just won't work. We have sleasy scumbag politicians on both sides (mostly the left:D) because uneducated people elect them thinking they'll "get something" out of it. The whole thing sickens me. Just think how much the $18,000 I paid to the feds this year might have made for me in a lousy mutual fund. In just a few years, the interest alone would more than cover my health insurance premiums. The fed is the worst possible investment of your money, other than paying for defense. If I get a "stimulus" check, I'll tithe some of it and I'm sure I'll find something fun to do with the rest. But really! Lower my freakin taxes and let me figure out what's best for my money. Who knows? I might even help out the needy on my own without being forced. Anyway, rant over. Back to hot rod lurkville.............. P.S. Hey you lugheads. Most guns are still made in the USA. Go buy one with your stim check just to raise the blood pressure of a lib.

I had a 9 second ranchero once. Once it started, it would only run for 9 seconds. With a different cam and colder weather, I'm sure I could have hit 8 seconds. :D

Some guys on this forum been reading too many penthouse letters (at least he's not asking for pictures). Pretty risky since you haven't seen her and don't know if she weighs 400 lbs (and is flat chested) but alright.

OK, here's the part you'll be getting:

1: You can be the one who get's bitched at for dragging junk cars home.
2: Your half includes any and all trips to the store for "feminine products".
3: Items needing fixing that are deemed more important than lying on the couch hungover watching speed channel at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning are included in your half.
4: Repair of any and all newish Japanese minivans, I'll take care of the old ones.
5: Painting that silver & tar shit all over the roof that I've been procrastinating doing.
6: The remainder of the 637 page list will be PM'ed by the wife. Mostly involves similar chores and using your hard earned money to purchase anything but cars & parts, booze, power tools or anything that can be found in an antique store or Best Buy.

    BINGO!
You are correct. If you are getting 1200 back and you were supposed to get 1200 on next years tax refund....you will get $0 after filing next years taxes. The only way you will get over on them is to be exactly even at the end of the year.

    Q. Is my stimulus payment taxable?
    A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount this year but you do next year, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously
    received.

    Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?

    A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

  21. Yes. It will just take that much longer for you to get your stimulus check. As you probably know, you still are responsible for paying your 2007 taxes by April 15, even if you take an extension on filing.

If one doesn't have their 2007 taxes paid by April 15, 2008, and files by April 15, the amount that is unpaid for 2007 will be subtracted from the stimulus check.

And no, the stimulus check payment one receives under this stimulus plan has zip, zero, nada, nothing to do with one's tax liability for one's 2008 taxes, no matter what those 2008 taxes due 'were'. So if you get a stimulus check, you don't need to worry about the government somehow recapturing it under the rules and regs as they stand today.

yes maybe ..but you do know that they make up the rules as they go along?

  23. Fink LOL! That's correct, Fink, no one's money is safe while Congress is in session.

If one wants to save the stimulus dough to cover the 'legislative risk', one can sure do that.

Ya, ya, that's it, it's the lazy people doing us in, not the two-trillion dollar war, or paying back all of this stupid "stimulus refund" to the Chinese. There is plenty of blame to go around, but at least where I live, there are not plenty of jobs to go around.

I am either going to spend it on bills, but most likely will be buying new brake components so that knocks one thing off the list of what I have to do to get my buick on the road again.
