Event Coverage What are YOU doing to get ready for the 2015 Meltdown Drags?

When the cam goes flat, it sprays the two or so closest piston skirts full of cam/lifter trash, which embeds partially into the aluminum, then makes the rest of its clearance by vertically scratching the crap out of the cylinder wall. Your ring seal will be suffering some on at least the two cylinders in line with the dead lobe, so your ET/speed is even more impressive. Back in the Dyno Don etc days, I don't think a killer 409/409hp car ran any better than low 12's & 110-112ish, so pretty dang good everything considered. Watch your legs man, those stock rods don't appreciate the 1050-1100 grams (about 2.5 lbs) of piston/pin/rings hanging on the small end!

 

Well Ric with a standard bore block and some used pistons there could be plenty of room for stuff to mill around.
I am trying real hard to keep the revs around 6000.

My coupe runs a lot better on all 8 cylinders. These were the First 2 passes then had some trouble with the injection still havent figured out what happened to it.

Had purchased 90/10 shocks and was going to order slicks to run the 64 Chevelle.

Found out I had a meeting all day the 12th for the Knights of Columbus.

The Lord gets Priority.

Hope to have it ready with slicks and better axles by the Hunnert car spring event.

Saltflats hammers the 62 BelAir to a new best of [email protected]

It was all business under the hood as the car owner curiously watched saltflats keep a close eye on the valve train with feeler gauge and steady hand.
The timing light never cooled down as his eagle eye watched the timing mark dance in harmony with the sound of horsepower from days of pass.
There was rumor of talk that Dyno Dons records could be in danger.

It was an event to see as we were blessed with some great weather and a track that could hold anything that was thrown at it.
The mix of cars was a site to see and hear.

 

It was a good day. Brought the Falcon out for the first time. After getting the first pass down it was a little easier on my nerves. Great weather and was able to make 10 passes. Good to see the Meltdown guys there to support the event. Good to see Steve from the Chrome Czars again. He bought the old motor out of the Falcon when I first bought it. Sorry to see that the Koopmeier's were too scared to race. Must of been worried of too much competition!! LOL

Don't feel bad Scott. The Falcon was suppose to be at the Meltdown also but, with life, things sometimes get in the way.

 

Sounds like you ford guys been rethinking your plans as the BIG 2 been pounding the 1320.

 

Just in case you guys didn't get that the BIG 2 is Chevy and Mopar

 

Was a good event. Wish I had my car running would've been a great test and tune. Seeing your cars run gave me motivation to keep cranking on my pile.
