What 2nd set of wheels for my 57??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Shane T., Dec 17, 2010.

  1. Polished Halibrands, 15X6 front, 15X8 rear. On a black car, polished Halibrands are perfect.

I love Torq-Thrusts (I even have them on my own truck), but I'm getting tired on seeing them on everything from PT Cruisers to Mustang GTs.

I agree with some of the previous posts, chrome reverse wheels are a good idea, too.

Torq thrust, cragers, or ansen slot mags...Any of those would look great on the 57 sedan.......One thing is for sure I agree with your wife, get those ugly stockers off of it....Makes it look like grandma's sunday cruzier.....LOL

That's the other part ofthe equation: the old sedan has a has a pretty decent runnings/sounding small block in it. Maybe something more street racer style would be in order?? Thanks again for all the input.

Maybe the look of just returning from the drags?

I'd have to buy some of the generic versions if I went this route. They are bad though!!

I vote for Cragar SS up front and chrome reverse steelies rear. I'm doing mine that way because, well, limited budgets saw lots of tri-fives with that treatment in the 60's. And, for me, Cragars all around is a bit overkill. Cragar makes a new "Old Style" SS with custom lug pattern, so not more universal.

cragars with redlines or tto(or true vintage americans) with redlines... I had my 57' low at one point with black steelies and redlines.. but since you have already run the steelies i'd go for 5 spokes...

  17. I love the 60's American TT Crows Foot 'D' Spokes. But I was wondering when I was going to see a vote for Halibrands!
