Wes Collins/Al Marx 1934 Ford Roadster that was entered in the Motorsports and Hot Rod show in 1950 sponsored by Russetta Timing Association in Los Angeles.
Photo taken in about 1951 and colorized by me. You can also check out a great article in the #51 Rodders Journal by Pat Ganahl and Rik Hoving.

ANY ORIGINAL NEVER SEEN PHOTOS OF THIS CAR I WILL GLADLY PAY FOR A COPY AND ALSO GIVE CREDIT. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP.

A favorite of mine as well. I have many '34 bits squirreled away to hopefully one day build something inspired by this same car, but I would really love to see a faithful recreation/tribute car built, so I'll be watching with great interest.

  4. Will be watching, great build so far Skip (I have been watching on IG).

This is the actual photo sent in for the first National Roadster Show of 1950 in Oakland entry. Note the Duvall windshield and Duvall hubcaps.

Somewhere I've got a pic of that roadster in a Ford Times magazine. It's a very dark color, not light like these pics. I've looked for the magazine in recent years but must have misplaced it.

What color are you going to paint yours?

The black car is when Wes Collins owned i,t the lighter car which will be a light rich creme or creme yellow is when Al Marx owned it and entered it in the Roadster show.

  19. It's about time someone re-created this roadster! Does the original still exist in any form?

Looking forward to this build and one of my favorite cars of all time. I hope to have my 1933 pheaton with some of it features .... so so cool.
I thought I see some pics that had the Foxcraft skirts on it with the Art Deco emblem.

Awhile back, a guy that had a fiberglass car(street rod) had Hoving do a photoshop of a 34 custom with skirts. He started a build thread, Wonder if he got started. This is the kinds of build threads we need to keep the true traditional spirit alive. Need to get busy on my project as well. Looking forward to your posts.

Not sure it would be pre 1948? I am in the process of making my own.

So true! Nothing beats a thread for a build. These forums provide pictures, but much more information and depth that is completely lost via Instagram.
