took my pickup to the track last night in the hope of running that ten second pass ive been chasing, got damn close best et was 11.04 at 123 mph ran that exact number three times, needs a little more tuning i guess. i was pretty happy considering i drove it to the track, ubolted the exhaust, and ran that number on 92 octane pump gas. also ran the same number with the dot tires and the slicks, so its hookin just fine im pretty happy just wanted that damn 10. 34065_136308359714564_100000062015205_394843_5049093_n.jpg

the air was pretty damn good, but yeah i think its still got more in it, a little more tuning and im gonna try some better fuel next time, also it was our towns big cruise weekend they always do cruise night drags its fun but they dont do as much track prep as normal, so it was leaving the line just fine with a 1.62 sixy foot but i was getting a little tire spin going into second, so ive got a few things to try.

Far out. I doubt mine will ever be that fast. Did you scale it? How much does it weigh? HP? Final drive? Rear tire diameter? Gary

oh yeah specs, its a 350 with edelbrock performer rpm heads with as much port work as i could to them, 10.4 to 1 compression, comp xe 264 cam, as far as hp i really dont know, but its got a 4l60 trans, and a 10 bolt rear with 3.50 gears, and a 26 or 27 tall rear tire depending on which tires im running at the time. and the weight is about 2400 with me in it

Your little car runs damn good. You should definately drive it to the HAMB Drags and shoot for the 10s. There are one or two guys trying to do that very thing this year...

    Good luck, -Abone.

What's the altitude there at Champion? Get some cold air into it, even if you have to make a newspaper tube scoop, and cool the fuel. You should be able to get passed that 4/100th of a second, even if you farted while making a pass; just lean forward if you do. Butch/56sedandelivery.

thanks for the compliments fellas, i wanna say the actual altidude of champion is about 1400 feet, the air was about as good as it gets on friday i am not sure what the corr. altidude was but it was good. My 1/8 et was 7.07 and mph was 99.18 pretty bitchin to go almost 100 mph in 7 seconds:)

Since you are running that consistant you should do bracket racing.

I've been thiinking of coming up to Champion, how is the track?
I have only run here at Redding but the strip management......................well there isn't any and tech is a joke. The track is very short with only one return road............and if you miss that there is a fairly smooth field at the end.......................don't ask me how I know.
The fastest I've gone (the car and myself are not licensed to go under 10sec) is 9.80 @ 133..............although I did jump the tree by .009.

Cool. And quick. I guess you've tried it with the tailgate down as well, to see if it makes any difference?

  24. What was your best 60 ft? What kind of tires are you running out back?

i have gone down to redding and raced, i would say our track surface is nicer, but the crew and tech, well pretty much the same problem.....sometimes, sometimes its all run great, i dont know i say support little dragstrips as much as possible, cause unfortunetly they may not be there for long. and prostockjohn my best 60' was 1.62 and the tires are bfg drag radials for now, they are getting worn out and im gonna try some mickey thompson et street almost everyone i know runs and loves them

that also reminded me, the promoter at our track approached me and my club co-founder with the idea of getting a traditional hot rod race going later this year, we dont know exactly what the plans are yet, but he is supposed to be in contact with us, probably just a 1 day race possibly linked up with one of the local shows, we told him we were interested and would be willing to help, so if we get it going i will post up more info and would like to help get as many bitchin cars here as possible

  27. go out on a cool spring morning, it'll go in the 10's

    I come up with a theoretical h.p. of 348 based on 11.04/123 and 2400lb.

  28. I've had BFG DR's and MT DR's, the MT DR's really kick ass. Were you spinning on the 1.6's or hookin'? I'm thinking you want to watch tire height with your gearing, you should be able to make a 26 work I'd think... Making about 400 or so at that raceweight?

Grats man, you are right there, and those are some pretty stout times for a 350 w/an edelbrock kit! Good job man, how much your squeezing ;) hehe jk..2400lbs awesome..wish I could cut my car down to that weight. Great looking truck aswell. With that 4l60 I'd put some gears in it 4.11s or 4.56s. I've got a 4l60e in one of my cars running on 4.12 gears and freeway speeds are about 2600-2700 rpm.

In terms of tires, I'm running Drag Radials as well just because I don't want to lug around 2 sets of tires for what my cars are running now, but the best set of slicks I've had were Hoosiers I put a ton of power behind a 10" Hoosier tire and never had to worry about spinning.

yeah thanks, there was minimal tire spin out of the hole but i was spinning going into second gear, definetly gonna save some money for some m/ts i dont trailer this thing and dont like haven to change tires at the track. as far as nitrous, not on it yet, i have a cheater kit that i want to put on, but im not gonna do that until i get this thing tuned and running as good as possible without it. besides wanna be able to say i have a 10 second STREET car. and as far as re gearing, it definetly doesnt need that, the truck is already crossing the line at about 6000 rpm in third gear which is as high as i want it. and i also drive the hell out of this thing on the street and really like the freeway rpm im at now
