Dub G. A word of caution with the factory hydraulic roller setup. I ran one last year small block chevy. I must have over revved it and one of the lifters came up to high and sat down sideways. Put a perfect groove in the cam and bent the sheet metal spider that holds the lifters. I went to a aftermarket tie bar style lifter. Just don't overrev

All you guys are making your cars faster and mine is probably slower. I finally have an interior. I did put 250 miles on it w the family last weekend. Average of 8 mpg

A lot of you guys may not know this, but Jeff is a very passionate man, sometimes expressing his emotion through the medium of poetry, sculpture,or in this case, watercolours.
He phoned me the other night and tried for about half an hour to tell me how excited he was about the way the Okie Doker was running, but he was just having trouble finding the words to describe all those emotions bottled up inside him.
Finally,he said:"Just watch the mail.I sent a painting that sums up all my emotions right now.It should be there in a day or two!Goodbye!"
Wow.Somebody had a little sand in his vagina,huh..?
Anyway,a day later, this shows up at my door via UPS:
So umm....I start therapy on Monday.I guess he is REALLY excited.I think I'm gonna start calling him "Buffalo Bill"...

Well I was all excited about posting about Carly debuting her Chevy 11 at Automotion here in the Dells and then I see THAT picture Scott posted!! Scott I think we may have to kick you out of the He Man Chevy haters club . Some images can never be erased from your mind! Speaking of great images , Carly wheeled her car into the show with a grin:D as big as all outdoors and with the crowd that was around it , that grin never went away, even when she had to leave early because of the rain . She will be back Sunday her Dad says. I hope so, her and her dad did a great job and I can not wait to see her run at meltdown. Larry

Scott- Like anything in life, there are two sides to every story...here is how I remember it.

Me - Hey Scott, it's Jeff...
    Scott - Hi Jeff
Me - I got the 57 out last night, and it ran really good
    Scott - that's great to hear...sniff...silence
    Me - Everything okay Scott?
    Scott - I'm fine
    Me - are you sure?
Scott - Yes, I am fine
Me - are you sure Scott? When my wife says "i am fine", I know what she really means
Scott - Can I be honest with you Jeff?
    Me - of course
Scott - can you promise to not try and run me right off the trailer?
    Me - why?
Scott - well, you know that I can never get anything done in time and I will need James and Norb to help me on my car for a while
Me - sure buddy...whatever you need
Scott - then I want to make a few test passes before I race you
Me - Ok Scott...should we race on Sunday then
Scott - yes, if my car isn't broke by then
    Me - cool...have a good day buddy
    Scott...I love you...
    Me - what?
    Scott - nothing....nothing...I gotta go...bad connection...click
    Me - dial tone

Carly won her first award today! The Dell's area Cruisers have her a top 7 award! Huge thanks for that! Weather was crappy but we still had a good time! Hopefully many of the people we talked to will come to the Meltdowns to see her and all of the others race!

The fresh motor is running again, ran it through a couple heat cycles and re-torqued the heads this weekend.
Sounds good with a little more compression.

To finish changing the oil in the morning, got to pick up a standard length filter, ( all ways some thing )
the extra long filter I picked up runs into header.

The carbs have a perfect air/fuel mix at slow speeds, going to lean on it a couple of times tomorrow on the road to see how they act under load.
The real test will be in the sticky stuff on the track. :)

I will say that DubG and Carly are both very inspirational. It is cool to see young folks working hard on this old stuff.

I am looking forward to seeing the two of you at the Meltdown!

Ok I have a question for those who are using the Towel City slicks... how much air pressure do we use?

Also did anyone notice the jacket Carly was wearing???

I run mine at 18... I find that to be the sweet spot for my car to hook and not get squishy at the top end.

Got my carbs back, and finished up the traction bars today. They're still just old-style Traction Master under-ride style bars, but we added adjustable ends so I can preload them a bit to fine tune the launch....and make sure it goes where I point it...lol
Going to be cutting one coil off the new springs tomorrow too.It sits so high in the front I can't even get the shocks bolted up because they're maxed-out,and still 2" too short.
I may add James' shear plates while the carbs are off if I have a few minutes to fire up the pencil grinder and open the plenum up 1/16" all the way around to fit...
Pictures in the morning.I got back home today before I realized I hadn't taken any.
    Hope everybody is doing well.:)

    Scott
