    A lot stronger than not even showing up for the 2016 Meltdown Drags because he was afraid to drive the car on a track.
    At that time doing 600 laps of a high school parking lot was scary enough for him.

    My car is meltdown ready. I have put 900 miles on it since July. I made 7 passes at the last meltdowns had 78 miles on it. Burnt up the 700r4. Lost a lobe on the cam and loved every minute of it! With the new setup it runs better, I hope! We have to finish painting my daughter's dart but will have 2 car's there this year and hopefully 3 the following year! Thanks again for putting on the best event of the year!

    Yes Brian

    Your car would look fat with that motor, ( can't catch you now.) Maybe bring the Chevelle next year.:rolleyes:

    Then you could run in M/P or S/S with Me and Scott, he may have to lose to two 327s in one day?

    You shut up and just keep those Brat-Burgers coming Norb....I can never be angry with a man who brings something so delicious to the Meltdown.
    Almost as delicious as the taste of my victory over Tickety Boo is going to be
    And I have a feeling that if Brian's Chevelle has as much attention to detail as his other rides do,it will be a pretty nasty machine.

  7. The pri show went great. there were several hamb members; melt down racers; and drag week competitors in attendance. some contacts were made to add things for future melt down events. Details to be released at a future date. a dinner at one of indys finest restraunts was attended by several members of the groups previously mentioned on saturday night. bench racing and smack talk was interupted many time due to the constant distractions. 20161209_180036.jpg

    We did a compression test and a leak down test tonight and it has me confused right now.:confused:
    Compression Test / Leak down
    1 = 190 / 30%
    2 = 180 / 34%
    3 = 190 / ? n/a header in the way
    4 = 180 / ? n/a header in the way
    5 = 190 / 29%
    6 = 190 / 30%
    7 = 180 / 40%
    8 = 190 / 40%

    All leakage was from crankcase (rings), no air from intake or exhaust.

    How can compression test do so well while leak down fails?o_O

    Bad leak down tester or operator maybe. :rolleyes:

    Maybe things will look better in the morning, after some sleep

    Ok wait a minute here....You had the balls to chirp about my "suspension engineering skills",when your supposed "8 second car" turned out to be a 12 second kangaroo jumping down the track because you guys forgot to build more than 1/2" of suspension travel into it?And now,while you were busy with the "Fake Diploma App",you obviously should have been searching for a "Plastigage App",or an "Inside Micrometer App" so that you didn't turn all those shiny parts the nice man on the Summit Tech Line said would make you into an 8 Second hero,into a bunch of real shiny door stops.

    I think you took yourself to school today.

    Norb,
    190# seems super high for 40% leak down....You'd have to have diesel-style compression ratio to pull that off,wouldn't you?
    I would suspect
    Something wonky with the gauge?
    Did you squirt a little oil in through the spark plug holes before you did the test?I was always told to do that,and turn the motor over so the cyl walls had a film of oil and the rings could seal better than if they were pretty dry from sitting.

    Norb if your leak down tester is like mine, it can give goofy readings if the air supply is not consistent (like if the compressor is refilling etc.) Just a thought.

  17. I bleed air off until the compressor refills for each cylinder. Maintaining the 100 psi is critical.i dont like the two gauge units. i prefer the single moroso gauge for several reasons. i dont put oil in the cylinders because it gives a false reading. yes it may improve the numbers for the test but you cant add oil going down the track. i picked up a excellent article at the pri show about sealing cylinders with proper ring fit and causes for leakage. i finished reading it last night. if you want it i can sent it to you pm me your address.

    Warmed up the engine to operating temp before starting the test. It was not as hot as I would have liked, had just

    got the plugs out and Vicki said supper was ready.:rolleyes:

    Block was still hot 45 min. later so went on with the test.:oops:

    I will try again later with a different compression gauge,

    I feel your pain Norb.Between work and taking the kids places/Christmas stuff/hanging out with the Baby,(which I will choose over pretty much anything),I still haven't touched the car since the summer.
    Hope everything works out ok with your innocent little 327.
    I'm hoping to steal a couple days over the Christmas holidays to do a marathon on mine and get that rear housing right,and straighten out a few other kinks...

    Its funny that Norb said Vicki said that super was ready and Scott said he feels the pain.

  22. For what its worth - my engine had 6 bent valves and 70% leakdown on 6 of 8 cylinders. It still read about 160 on the compression tester and still ran the same ET as before the bent valves. It idled like shit and made a wheezing sound when cranking it over but it ran the same MPH in the 1/8th. I'm thinking at 6,000 to 8,000 rpm it can't leak down that much. (And please don't tell me I read it wrong - the valves were bent o_O )

    Well Gammz stopped by and I sent him home with a care package that I hope will get them a little more for next year.
    He got some parts and I got some beer I think it was a win win.

    It was good to get down to see you and your wife!!!! Hanging out at the shop and talking cars is always a good time! Today I'm scouring the web searching out parts for the bottom end. Rods and you guessed it a stroker crank. Got to get the package to the machine shop to get it all measured and checked over.
    I have no doubt it will give us a little more. If anything it will be more traction issues!! Ha!
    Later!
