I have searched the forum and not come up with anything on a 2x2bbl sbc intake. i went to pate this year and i saw what looked like a new weiand 2x2 intake for a sbc but i just didnt have the cash to get it at the time. i thought for sure i would be able to find one somewhere.....apparently, i thought wrong. If anyone has info or insight about ANY sbc 2x2 intake, let me know. i'm just curious to know if they are available new anywhere, or if they are a relic that is as highly sought after as an unmolested 49 merc. if thats the case, i might be better off just using a 4bbl. i'm not running a hood on the truck, so i just thought it would look cooler. its not going to be enough motor to need a 3x2, so the 2x2 looked like a good option. Any help at all is appreciated! davey
Nicson was the only one that made a 2x2 intake for the Chevy V8's. They are super rare and normally will fetch more then $1200 for it. I think Weiand only made 3x2,4x2, and 6x2 intakes. I will tell you this, 4 Stromberg 97's are only going to produce the same amount of carb that a Edelbrock 600cfm will produce so if your engine is capable of handling that you'll be fine with a 3x2 or 4x2.
So the right thing to do with a smaller budget is just run a four barrel and be done with it? Seems like the best/cheapest way to put my truck on the road. it may not look as cool, but it will work. i suppose i can always go with a 3x2 later if i have some extra $ laying around...that'd be the day!!! extra $...ha! the other thing i had thought about was trying one of those adapters for 2x2 on a 4bbl intake. any thoughts on that?
Finding a Nicson is like looking for Hens Teeth........I searched for years.....thats why i ended up doing the standard 3x2's
Cheezy at it seems, I'm running one of the adapters on my temporary engine, a 307 and a pair of 97's. Seems to work really good on that engine. Yea, I know the engine won't run with that fuel line...
I'd run the 4bbl for a bit while you save up for a 3x2 that has all rebuilt carbs and such so when you're put it on you're not fighting yourself to get it to run correctly. The 3x2 will be awesome.
the 55 Edelbrock catalog. trips were for speed enthusiasts. Normal people used it as a dual intake. I guess there weren't many normal people around in 1955.
Or go this route like Jake Jacobs. SBC with Lincoln Valve Covers with 3x2 and one carb with make believe oil breather..................to get a 2x2 look
Or you could just buy a 3x2 manifold and block off the middle carb with one of these. 3-Bolt Carb Pad Cover Price:$14.99 <TABLE id=cph_ucProductSelection_dlDisplayGroupProducts class="prodskurbdl prodskurbdlsingle" style="BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0><TBODY><TR><TD>3-Bolt Carburetor Pad Cover Price: $14.99 EA In Stock View Larger Item #: 5601097 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
You could run a 2x4 manifold with adapters to go from 4 barrel to 2 barrel.. If done right it is hardly noticeable...
