I met Keith in the early 90's and helped him get his roadster on the road. Now when i need inspiration or ideas for a project I check out his art. He seems to have his finger on the pulse of what some of us want to build...
Weesner is probably the most inspiring artist that I can think of. His artwork makes me want to build every car he creates. Hands down, my favorite. I just wish I could get an original piece.
I don't have any of his originals, but I did manage to pick up a signed poster / print this past weekend. His work is inspiring stuff. I was told that most of his paintings are really small.
I got to meet him at the Round-Up last year, bought a shirt and three prints that he signed,... got them framed and hanging in my shop. Awesome artwork, and seemed like a very nice guy. His originals seem to sell fast, very cool stuff.
he is a way cool cat - I needed some advice on the Yokohama show and he helped me quite a bit - THANKS! Once I got there - even though he was a big shot - he still talked to me - really really nice guy. I wish him all the best.
I absolutely love his artwork - hope to pick up a couple more prints soon at the Roundup. Also, I agree with what others have said - the cars he creates are sooo spot-on they make you want to build that exact car! I have the Kandy Krate print hanging up at home and someday I want to build a car just like it.... Malcolm
i love his work . the cars are just enough cartoon but still have enought detail . he seams to capture every thing in his pictuers that my eye sees in old hot rods .i would love to have him paint my coupe but i know i could not aford it.is he on the hamb.
I built my Hallock style screen with only one of his illustrations as reference. I did look at others but his print was on hand throughout the build.
Huge inspiration to me and my favorite artist ever....I collect his prints myself and someday will go deep for an original painting!!!
He's a featured artist on one of the early Mad Fabricators DVD's too, so you can check out his stuff first hand. The "soft" look he creates, plus his seemingly incredible eye for subject matter makes his art not only different, but interesting as well. I think even someone not totally tuned to cars would still dig his work. Great stuff, and he's in my Top 3 fave artists, along with Sonny DePalma, and Von Franco. (Totally different stuff, but all kool!)
Check it: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151270 Some of KIRK!'s original pieces are gone, but still a decent thread.
Keith is badass. one of the best places to go for inspiration on a car build is the gallery in his website.
