This is the other basket case I'm workin on...swingarm converted to rigid....stock rake....16steel rear...19steel front...stock rake....Opinioins????
How many people fall on their nose stepping outta your back door??? I like that bike alot...damn near DONE, Bro! You need to build a Honda chop, or a KZ1000 drag bike though...you got the touch...just need a cooler canvas to work your art upon, Man!
Hatch that's awesome!!! I like the photochop with the drag bars.... BTW, do ya need any upholstery work done?!? I'll charge you one Triumph for whatever you need.... I'll even toss in a Rebuilt wheel cylinder for any early Ford drum I have layin' around!!!
I love it. I do have to say that I think the second bike would look good with taller bars because it is longer and raked. The first bike has a short, compact, no-nonsense look to it that might beg for short bars. Either way, I think both bikes will be cool. -don
Skip,,,sounds good...but I don't need a wheel cylinder..got anything else?...Actually, I think I will sell one and build the other...I just cant decide which frame I like best. I have enough parts to build two bikes, but not the time.
I like this one even BETTER than bike #1... I'd just raise the back up a tad... and then lower the front a tad... mainly so the pipes are level to the ground. Keep bringing us the Triumph stuff... eeess mui-bitchen'! Sam.
Nice bike ... the drag bars look sweet .. I just got myself a bike in bits (500 unit) can,t wait to get stuck in..
Your fender is gonna vibrate off. I like that it doesn't have an extended wheelbase. Good simple clean look. I'll run rings around any hog ever made, if you hot up the motor a little. The apes go with the overall look. Are you going to get riding clothes that fit with the style and era of this machine? Don't get your bell bottoms fouled up in the kicker, man.
I have a question for all the Triumph gurus... are those two brackets that hold the top of the engine to the frame neccesary? I see some with them... and some without? Sam.
I think CheaterSlick nailed it. The shorter bike looks tougher with the shorter bars. And I like the way it sits, the bottom of the frame ALMOST parallel with the ground. It creates a certain visual tension. Very No Nonsense.
"visual tension"... izzat like "sexual tension"?? Or is it like it puts your mind in a position that says it should be level... but it likes it hangin' back?? Sam.
I like em level...but also like em with a little nose bleed too. I like drag bars...but apes are cool....short frame...long frame....like em both....stock rake or kicked out????. Tough to decide which to keep and how to build it. I also can't decide on wheels. A 21 would be nice....oh crap.....guess I need about ten of these...sorta like a deuce three window....too many choices. And to add to the madness, I just picked up a 1970 650 BSA. I like Triumphs more, but have seen some real bitchin beezers too.
Hatch, what was that funky imported two stroke bike you started to tell me about at Autorama??? Post a pic of THAT wile you're at it! (I wanna see somethin' WEIRD like that chopped!!!! )
Sam, the head steadys are there to be used. Once in a while you see a Trumpet that has cracks in the engine plates, or even a crack in the big motor mount lug at the bottom of the cases...those are the guys who leave the head steady off. Also, you hear guys bitch about how the Triumphs vibrate so bad....same cause
nice Hatch...my 2 with trump prices steadily climbing i would hold onto all the parts and do that 1st one. it def looks kill with the shorter bars i don't hold to any strict rules as to raked/drags...short/short etc..do whatever you dig. and Sam the steadys are there but not entirely necessary...i usually go by the bike im building and see if they can be tucked away outta sight...if yes then i use them. no matter which way you choose the stock motor mounts suck for various reasons..we usually cut new ones
I defintely dig the apes on the first bike. The second would look cool with a straight bar. Nice Trumpets. May I ask whats you axle to axle length on the first bike. I have a Beezer frame cut apart for a hard tail, and was wondering if the tail length ends up being longer than the swingarm. I like its stance but I'm a big guy.
