Technical Weather strip trunk channel

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jesse Schnieders, Apr 5, 2017.

  1. I am needing some weather strip channel for the trunk of my 60 olds. Its kinda difficult to make and I was wondering if anyone knows of another car that I could use one from. You can get new channel for a Camaro or Chevelle but I don't know if the weather strip is the same. I called soffseal and they were less than helpful. I know the weather strip fits all 59-60 gm but something has to be close. The channel is roughly 5/8'' x 3/4''. Thanks for anyonewho can help.[IMG][IMG]

Yeah, check Steele. They had exact replacement for a 57 Star Chief.

do you need the metal channel or the rubber weather strip?

  6. The metal channel is what I need.

With a shrinker and stretcher tool you can shape "L" shaped sheet metal and weld them together to form the channel.

if you have a plasma cutter friend close by, just use some small box section and cut one side off.
Did all my window channels that way.

  10. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I think I will order some Chevelle straight pieces then I will just have to make the corners.
