  1. 56 had shocks that had stud attachment and 53-55 the shocks had eye Attachment. Also, on each side of the peak on the 56 hood near the cowl are two carriage bolts, 53-55 didn’t have these....minor but tell tale ‘56 only identifiers....

  2. I always thought the F-100 needed a fleet side box. ;)

  3. Maybe the Ford truck and Edsel design teams had a lot of overlap?

  4. Ignoring the front end, the top one looks good. I'm thinking wheel and tire selection are crucial.

The bottom one reminds me of aliens from The Twilight Zone.

  5. What would that have to do with this thread?

  12. Sectioned and shortened bed, makes the Top look look out of place. I like the Wheel choice.

Let's give it a Hair Cut.

  14. The '53-'56 F100 are classy trucks.
The '56 with its changes still has the "bones" that lends itself to many different styling directions, securing it as a true canvas to create personal touches in the eyes of Hot Rodders and Customizers alike (what this site thrives on).

  15. That's one good way to put it. Many misproportions; hard to hide, easy to accentuate.

I think it's utilitarian, then they tried to gussy it up. The tailgate looks huge.

I'm impressed with what Hudson did. They made an Art Deco car into a pickup. That looks like an eight-foot bed! But it looks good. They kept it short (in height) and tucked it in there.

  16. This picture is the root cause of this thread. And an older guy at work had a hot rodded '56 Ford, when I was young and had a stock '48 Chevy.

I had posted in the above thread that I don't care for '56 Ford trucks, deleted that comment (I didn't want to muck up that thread), then started this thread you're reading.

  17. Taste is subjective, what one finds distasteful another will find it palatable, we all have our likes and dislikes.

I like Deuces and other guys don't, there is a seat for every arse. HRP

I really like the concept, if not the actual execution

Old Ford trucks like the 53?-56, were IMHO the best post war looking truck Ford made.

I'm betting the OP doesn't like TF GM's as well.

No worries, we all have a like/dislike.

Heck, I'm sure there are many like me that thought those Pilot House dodge pu's looked awful 40 years ago...dang, good looking trucks now!

I love my 56 F100. But there are 2 things that bother me, the front wheel/axle needs moving forward and the damned hood hinges are a pain. I plan to move the axle on mine but will put up with the hood, ya get used to it. It doesn't worry me if someone else doesn't like it, not theirs is it ?

  23. Is there such a thing as a round truck bed?

I see one potential styling issue with the Terraplane pickup, and it's not the bed. What do you see?

Are you one of the people that's upset by my critique?

  24. Bob, I didn't know that was owned by a HAMBer!

  25. Sarge, the Falcon Ranchero is "partially-round" :D

  26. Man, that wood bed floor (and everything else in the picture) looks great! But then all you'd want to haul is air freight.

Anybody know of any other pickups with radiused rear bed corners?

  27. No, but I think there is a very long list of sylistically challenged vehicles that could be ripped apart before you get to the 52/6 F100s.

  28. If I said I luv the 1956 Ford pick up - I would also say I luv the 55/56 Chevy pick up.......but I'll stick to my 1956 Studebaker 2E with it's factory V/8 and it's 5 speed overdrive.....one of two built on a 1/2 ton chassis.........
