Hello,

When we are out for a short drive on our errand days, we always are on the lookout for old hot rods. As my wife always keeps a sharp eye out, she actually sees more hot rods and trucks first. But, I see my share of cool hot rods on the road or parked.

We saw this cool old Ford Woody Wagon turn into a giant parking lot. After we drove by and attended to our own business down the long winding road, after a few minutes, we drove back to the giant parking lot to see if the Woody was still there. Well, it was still there and due to the weekend holiday and the pandemic “work from home mantra,” the parking lot was relatively empty.

The empty parking lot allowed me to take some drive around photos of this very well put together Ford Woody Wagon.

We have seen this old 1963 Oldsmobile Two Door Sedan cruising around the South coastal area on various days. But, we never saw it stopped, anywhere. The sightings were always in traffic of some kind and no chance for a photo or two. In traffic, in the oncoming lane and sometimes behind a large van or truck. So, the opportunity was lost on us.

Then one day we saw it parked and took a quick photo for our old “local hot rods and cruiser car” file, not at a Cars and Coffee, but actually on the roads.

It looked rather old and tired, but after 60 years of road cruising for a family, teenager or enthusiast, it has served them well. Despite how it started, the salt air environment takes its toll, fast and faster. Now, it is retired, but still pumping to the local events. A 2023 current California license plate tag means it is on the road at one time or another.

My wife mentioned that she has never seen it up close, but has said many times, “there is an old rusty car coming down the opposite lanes…” just in time for me to see it come by and continue past us, without a moving film or still photo. YRMV
