First off I want to say thank you, to all the participants of the first annual No Overhead Run. Thank you for taking the time to drive through the rain to our little car show in the middle of Washington. I always think that getting there is half the fun of going to a car show, and since I had to be to the finish line first to help with set up. I gave my camera to Tyler and Johnny and asked them to take some pictures along the way. It probably wasn't the smartest decision I've made in my life but here's the PG version of what they saw along the way: There was some random male pin up modeling along the way too. It's hard to believe but they actually managed to photograph a few cars along the way. It's all down hill from here to the finish line in Vantage
Finally got my camera back filled with surprises and was able to take some pictures at the show. If you don't already know the final score was East - 47 West - 21
The long distance award winner, who drove twice as far as the actual run, from another country just to make it to the starting line at the Antique Auto Ranch in Spokane. Now that's freakin' cool! Jeff Allison sketched up a drawing of his car just to say thanks for making the long haul.
An absolutely beautiful Dearborn Award winner. Chris' dad started before Noon on the Jack Daniels after his Model A truck ate a cam gear on the way. Didn't get a chance to meet the owner, but he was the first car to make it Vantage.
It was awesome to see Josh and Steve made it over from Amocat. maybe next year Steve wont worry so much about it getting some rust on his roadster. haha! My two favorite overhead powered cars of the event. Even had some of our nations hero's stop by and check out the event. Some major awards The Emperor's Cup winners for 2010 - The Eastside Best of the West - given out by the Aces & Eights Car Club Best of the East - given out by the Beggers Car Club Some Random shot to close the show. I can't wait until next year's show!
Very good pictures as always. Wish I could have made it,glad to hear I can next year. Very cool idea.
Thanks for posting the pics...fun stuff....Question, (for anyone who knows) is this plate legit or made up from a '45? I was under the impression that there were no 1946 WA license plates, just window decals, because of the lack of metal at the end of WWII. Just curious as I have a '46 and have researched this quite a bit. Thanks
What an awesome and unique event. You guys in Washington all rock....I love boys that aren't afraid to actually drive their cars!
Does the "don't ask, don't tell" policy apply to the East Side Boys? Nice showing of flathead powered machines! Great group of cars.
Only cars had a 46 decal, trucks and pickups had an actual plate. I had one on my 46 pickup. Hard to find!! Great pics Billy, you always do a great job!!!
Thanks, that's a nice batch of photos. I've got to get these piles of parts I have turned into a car for next year. Too much "life got in the way". This past year.
Payne; We drove the panel truck because we just got my flathead powered cabover done about 9:00 sat. mourning, did'nt have time to test drive it so we just took off for vantage, I put a new set of tires on it that were about 3 inches shorter , I think top speed now is about 35 MPH! within a mile we had about 50 cars behind us and a whole bunch of pissed off apple haulers, so I turned around and took the panel truck.we'll have to do something to speed her up for next year! at least we got her going agin after sitting for 33 years!sorry about bringing the overhead. Chris
Great event ! thanks for sharing guys , is it just me or does that Allison sketch say "No Flatheads Run" ? Was he takin the piss or on it ?
No need to apologize about bring an overhead powered hot rod, because your panel is just plain bitchin' the guys in the club were talking about how cool your panel was even after the run was over. Thank you for coming down to the show. Congratulations on getting the cab over going again after 33 years, that's a huge accomplishment. That's awesome that you even attempted to make the drive at a blistering top speed of 35 mph! Look at the bright side you'll have a year to work at raising that top speed and finding all of the back roads you can take down to Vantage.
LabRat you're right! I zoomed in on the photo and I'm 90% certain it say "Thee Emperors, No Flatheads 2010" on it. I love Allison like a brother, it's just that spelling isn't one of his strong suits.
