Washington State E vs W flathead run 2011 report and tons-o-pics!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Sep 18, 2011.

  1. We deemed the 2011 "Washington State E vs W Flathead reliability run 2011" a success! We figured we had around 100 cars, thats about 30 more then last year! The weather was cool and damp- it did not open up and pour, it drizzled for a short while and went away. The parking lot was packed of everything flathead related from stockers to blown hot rods! A lot of people did not sign up for their car to be counted, the official count was East side 53- West side 23. West-siders need to pick up the ball they have dropped for the last 2 years. I know there are a TON of neat flathead powered cars over there, they need to put their big boy pants on and come play :D

Our little caravan left from Spokane around 6:30 Friday morning. We took old highways and backroads the whole way to George, WA and the last 20 or so miles was on I-90. It was a great run and our group had zero break downs or trouble there and back. Even Mike's "No Dollar Special" T he built using only scrounged or donated parts. He claims to have NO MONEY in it. This is the same Mike that won this years Montana 500 Model T race. The No Dollar Special runs better then it looks :D

Thee Inland Emperors would like to thank the people and clubs who came to share this day with us. It went smoothly and we just kicked back. had lunch and enjoyed the cars. We sold nearly all our T shirts drawn by fellow Emperor Mr Allison, that helps a ton as that is the only way we fund this run. So thank you eveyone and we already have plans of a 3rd year flathead run, around the same date next September!!!

On a personal note- I have been bustin my ass to get my new 41 convertible reliable to take it on the road. Certain things fought me but mid week I got em all ironed out and have put a little over 600 miles on the car. It performed great (except a little blow by seeping inside :D) Jamie, me and the Hound Lucy broke her in right!!

  6. A club from each side volunteered to make a trophy and present it to their favorite car from the opposite side. The East side's club was The Spokane Model T club and they presented it to this bitchin lil T of PrewarPete's.

The West Side club that volunteered could not make it, so no east side car got a trophy. We figured Mike's no dollar special would have got it :D:D:D

    See Y'all next year!!!!!

I thrashed for a week on my 32 roadster trying to get it ready, but my new radiator refused to cool the 34 v8. I refused to stay home. My cream 4-door is always ready to go on no notice, so I left Damascus at 6:00 A. M. I did get there before noon, and signed in with the east side guys (I grew up in Coeur d' Alene) Maybe next time I'll give the west side guys a little support.
A fun time-great cars -interesting people- what more could you want?
I'm glad I fixed the windshield wiper before I started home. There was LOTS of rain in the Columbia River Gorge. 488 miles round trip. I can't wait till next year.

Hey Chris, looks like a great time! Im super bummed i couldnt make it. I tried my damn'd - est but my car boiled over 5 times in 20 miles.its never done that before so im not sure whats up with it. We ended up turning around and heading home. Also, my little A was having a hard time keeping up to 45. Somthing is not happy with it. Always next year....

Pretty nifty deal, all around. Thanx for the pix. I especially got a kick out of the "let us pray" shot - however unintentional. Gary
