History wanted big bopper 1955 gasser info

    Looking for info on 1955 chevy called big bopper that ran out of Jacksonville Florida.

    G. Hoge, better known as the Big Bopper Mr. Hoge was a life long resident of Jacksonville, attending local schools. He graduated from Andrew Jackson 1950, then attended Florida State University on a football scholarship, transferred to Central College, Fayette, MO on a full football scholarship where he lettered as a freshman. Mr. Hoge joined the United States Air Force on 15 July 1951 and served until retirement as T/sgt on 1 Nov 1971. He served as a Security Policeman and Small Arms Instructor until retirement. Mr. Hoge's military career took him to England, France, Germany, VietNam and all over the United States. He received numerous awards and decorations during his service career. Mr. Hoge's love of dancing started at Kirby Smith Junior High and continued through his life time. He was inducted into the National Beach Bop Hall of Fame in 2000 in recognition of his service to the dance community. Mr. Hoge was an avid drag racer, his 1955 Chevy, the Big Bopper was well known in the drag racing circles for years. Mr. Hoge was a well known umpire of baseball and softball for twenty years in Jacksonville. Mr. Hoge served as Santa's helper to the sick, homeless, Veterans organizations, Day Care Centers and others for years. Mr. Hoge was a member of the Jacksonville Life Saving Corp., Disable American Veterans, Florida Boppers Inc.,

    I live close to this car. Not sure of the history. The guy that owns it seems like a good guy. It sold once on ebay a little while ago and then the guy who won the car tried to dick the guy on the price. Is it still for sale? It looks like it is a new front straight axle in the car. From talking with the owner he said that the car was pink when it was raced? Definately could be saved.
