I just got home from set-up at the World Of Wheels St Paul, I put our new "Toaster" on display by Tucks table with the other bikes. Now to roam around a bit...... First I see the Cheaters display, got a kick out of the cones with unda pants & cross bones, What no mannequins with hairy muffs Oooh there she is all by her lonesome, no one around, if I could just slip into the back seat for a little AutoErotica......... The ACME boys were in hyperdrive again, I want to see how they get that big fuckin sign around to all the shows, way cool. Much more later, see if I can elbow my in on the tour at Mark's. Please add more photos
I can't wait till Saturday. Holy buckets, doncha know I'm so excited for sure. Criminy sakes. The Disabled American Veterans is donating a mobility scooter to me so I'll be able to get around at the show. You can not imagine how excited I am. I will have to bring the good camera with me.
Clone.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally disappointing to read that on the sign.... Still a nice car....
A fucking clone?!? I was going to waste a trip to St. Paul to see a fucking clone? How does false advertisement sound? Every radio spot advertises it as the Barris Hirohata Merc...fuck that...I'm staying home...
The clone was at Atlanta also. That was the main reason that I went was to see the original. Having said that, Jack Walker made a fantastic clone.
HaHa.. I heard a rumor that these will be more than one Merc there. Imagine missing out on the 500+ others because of one clone...........
Just got home from the W.o.W. The cars were absolutely awesome. The cost of parking was ridiculous. The venue was horseshit and the people working for the River Centre were for the most part a pain in the ass. The tickets were overpriced and it was impossible for a guy in a wheelchair to get from one floor to another and the assholes running the place would give directions but weren't willing to accept the fact that the fucking elevators didn't work. At one point I actually had to try to stand on an escalator while my brother fought with my wheelchair to get where we were going. When I did finally find someone to ask for assistance the Son of a Bitch pretty much laughed in my face and blew me off. I will be contacting the promoters who put the show on and let them know what a fucking rip-off this show is. I can't wait to get to BTTF this summer and spend some time at a decent car show.
I saw someone holding a wheelchair going up when I was going down. Parking was high buck, but most of us have cabin fever now and need the show to get us out in the garage working. Hold on to your hats folks I got many photos of Mark's showcar lair to edit and post, be back in a 1/2 hour.
Here's the pics I took- It was cool to see Kerry's coupe in person... The Lucky Bastards had some cool cars there, and a couple projects...
My point was that I am unemployed, and I'll be damned if I'm going to waste my money to drive an hour and a half to St. Paul, pay for parking and admission for what should have been a once in a lifetime viewing of a historic custom, only to find out it's a clone...I don't give a damn about other Mercs, or car shows in general, I just wanted to see the real deal Hirohata Merc...as far as I'm concerned, I'll never go to the W.o.W. show again because of this...it's fraud in my eyes...
Mark Moriarity opened up for us to drool on his treasures. Like Mark said in one of his posts, the car is too small to drive. Trendero's Y Block Injected Mark also has Dean's boat and he lives by the lake, he has not had it out yet. That Is Titus lookin er over. Now off to edit more photos.
Next we go upstairs above Marks garage. Here is a digger I know nothing about. Now off to the garage workshop attached to his house. Mark was beat up so badly from the last rebuild, he is taking some time "off" and building Zingers, this buggy will have a Boss 429 in it. No silly, it will not be a runner, it will be for display only. The Vdub body is from the original mold from the real Zinger VW. That J-Head looks good in Flake. Well I got to go to bed now, more photos on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
Guys thanks for the other photos. One car that stuck in my mind was the Muntz Jet, I have seen photos of Muntz & Kurtis's before, but never upclose also, never read the history. The 3 retro wing guages stick out like a sore thumb Lincoln Power, could have been ordered with optional performance parts, why the Hell wouldn't someone ? "bar in the car, so I can drive myself to drink." WCFields The history of Muntz is worth reading some time, Google it. A person can grumble about what is or is not at a show, but if you look deeper you could be surprised. Cheaters R King Shits, Kerry's long distance.
