Chuck Vranas likes to keep it real when picking out his top ten cars for SRM. Sure he has to keep the fat wallet crowd (and his employer) happy by picking some pro built cubic money cars, but it's nice to see a couple of regular guys get the nod too. Here's a couple of HAMB cars he picked at the Ocean City show in Maryland back in May. This neat little A bone belongs to HAMBer Lowbuckboz, and he's got a neat story to go with the car. I stole these pic's off the SRM site. and I stole this one off the HAMB These pic's are of my old buddy Carl's truck, OLD HOT ROD FLAMES here on the HAMB. He's a lurker. Here's Chuck in action........ Here he is digging for a dollar to give me to go away..... And last but not least, Jalopyrama Mike's 32 5 window..... I just thought it was kinda neat to see some of our own get some ink!
Nice line-up! Chuck does a great job. I've shot many photos looking over his shoulder. It's always a pleasure to talk to him about his passion for traditional hot rods.
great job by jalopyrama mike givin props to Junior (fatabone) for puttin that together for him, and done complete in less than 30 days! - great car by a great builder!
The thing that our modest friend Andy (OL 55) didn't say is that his 40 also got some ink in the same issue of street rodder. Congrats to all!!!!!
Congrats to all of you guys that Chuck picked for the Top 10...thats awesome! Chuck Vranas is so dreamy!!
Two more HAMBer's for Street Rodder Top 100, myself and LOWDUG37. Chuck is coming next Saturday to do full features on both.
OL 55, thanks for the post! Congratulations to everyone who was and does get picked. My car is proof that you don't need a big dollar car to get ink! I still can't believe Chuck picked my car! I must of asked him like 3 times "really? are you sure?"! That evening I also got to met Andy (OL 55) & Carl (OLD HOT ROD FLAMES) as they were waiting for Chuck to finish shooting my car, what a couple of good guys! Also ran into Chuck at Syracuse Nationals were he remembered me from OC. What a cool guy to remember you and ask how you're doing after meeting alot of other people after the OC show. Hot rodding world has alot of good people in it, esp. the Traditional crowd! Thanks....Boz Still waiting for my copy of SRM.
Mike has hot rodding superpowers so that he can be at many shows on one weekend. Lucky for us he only uses his powers for good. (He was at both shows and they were on the same weekend)
http://www.streetrodderweb.com/features/0901sr_2009_turtle_wax_street_rodder_top_100/index.html Chuck's pics from Syracuse for SRM Top 10- some pretty cool rides (even though most are not home built) I personally think Chuck walks on water . I owe a lot of what I have had for press to him and cant ever find the words to thank him as much as he deserves. He is a true asset to this hobby and I am proud to know him. Plus - he takes a damn good picture-even if he is wearing another shop's T shirt. Ha!
Good stuff. Well deserved press for those cars. Chuck is a great guy. Good to see him working with a big magazine. Hopefully he's making good pay too. He put a couple pix of my car in Rolls and Pleats a few years ago. He was very cool to talk too and always takes a minute to say hello at the shows.
Had the pleasure of meeting Chuck a few years back in Syracuse, now i have the pleasure of calling him a friend.. He does have a great eye for traditional styled cars, or just car's that have the look in general as we can see in what he picks and photographs.. Congrats to all who were chosen. Well deserved Tony
Agreed. If you ever see Chuck at an event, stop and chat with him- he has more knowledge about the history of our hobby than many want to admit. He is the REAL DEAL.
