Antique Archaeology in Nashville

 

We stopped in Hurricane Mills, Tn for the night...we did 358 miles today and the Mercury did great, we were very blessed with a good day on the road. Here's more pictures from today I didn't have time to post.

 

Enjoy your trip. Bernice and I were out that way in Feb. We were amazed at all the iron along the highways. If you have time try and stop at some of these places off the interstates.

Followed old 66 from Illinois to the Santa Monica pier a few years ago. Had an absolut ball. Could have taken a better ride tho. I was in an old flathead powered '29 roadster. The road is very sparse in some states, but what really got my attention was the attitudes of the people that you met on the trip. I had bought a book called Route 66 then and now. That was a real evy opener. At the time I went, 66 was trying to make a comeback. However with the economy being in the toilet it has slowed down..... a lot. One of the things I wanted to take a picture of was the teepee motels in Holbrook. When I stopped to see them a cleaning lady let me inside one of them to check it out. They have cleaned the area up quite a bit. Wasn't long before this that the hookers and crackheads had moved in and brought things to a halt. On the back of my car I had scribbled California or bust. When I crossed the state line into California I parked my car right under the sign that said welcome to San Berdoo Co. When I got home I had that picture blown up and is in my garage yet today. I can say that I have never went on such a long road trip or had so much fun as I did on 'ol 66. Norm Cooper

We made 322 miles today (Carl and Sandy).

We spent several hours at Graceland, I was skeptical but it was really good.

 

Sorry they are out of order but I'm beat and hitting the shower.
