History Virtual top 100 Custom car show

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by Rikster, Mar 11, 2005.

  1. Love the thread, thanks all who contributed. My votes to add to the list are:
    Bob Hirohito's Merc coupe
Earl Bruce's '40 Ford coupe, as it looked about 60 years ago
Bob Merry's mid-50s Olds - anyone know if this one still exists?
    The Packard Request

  2. local merc custom that rivals any merc custom anywhere of similar vintage. Built by a friend of mine.

They don't have to be fat fendered to be customs... chopped, sectioned, channeled, and shortened quarters...

Bill Couch still owns it... he was 16 and his Dad bought it for him in 1953... originally built by Joaquin Arnett of the San Diego Bean Bandits in 50-51... was purchased by Andy Granatelli in 52 and added a full race Grancor equipped flathead and Allard independent frontend

I think any car built by Doug Thompson should be included.
