Right you are, Roy. It was Lakeside Speedway not I-70, and (I choose to believe) DWs suit was as much about encouraging promoters of proffesional racing to provide proffesional rescue crews and equipment at their events, as it was about his financial compensation.

The Edelbrock (27) and Stroppe v860 midgets, were among the few that could beat the Offys regularly.

Glad to see the post still going.. Great stuff.

I went to the Sprintcar Swap meet at the (Indy)fairgrounds this morning.. always fun to see old buddy's

Bought FIVE of John Mahoney's Sprint car pictorals. OFF OF MAHONEY HIMSELF! 68, 74, 76, 81, 82, and 83. There pretty good. Great for drawing reference.

Here is one page outta one of them..

The Dean van lines spl' I always laugh when guys freak out at me running a hundred MPH or so in my hot rod on "Those old ribbed tractor tires"!!! WHATEVER!! Them old tractor tires have survived a lot worse.. How quick was this car ROY.. or Mac Miller.. or any of you guys! (Damn theres been a lot of knowlege on this post:D) 135??? (Vuky's first "Laydown" roadster set the pole at 138 in 52'

Yeah, I know they were running dirt on these but I guess 110 to 120 on the miles?? Maybe I'm way off.. Oh well, I haven't had a tire let go yet.. KNOCK ON WOOD.

Does anyone remember a Sprint Car race in the 70's at Terra Haute where NOBODY finished? Toby Tobius was declared the winner after a wrecker hauled him across the finish line. LOL
