That sucks. Junior was a nice guy and he had excellent equipment. He couldn't have been that old. Was he sick?

It is in fact Eddie Ostwick, my dad. I have that picture but know nothing about the car.

The car was built with a 90" wheel base and shortened to 85 in 52 with Halibrand rear and Dryer spindle mount front wheels. Dutch is standing behind car and Bill Shiendler in background.
I don't know the answer to that, but he did build the original "Tamale Wagon" maybe with help from Hank Arnold.
Anyone know who was the builder of this particular car?

Jim, if McCluskey was involved it likely would have been Hank Arnold since they had been friends since their teenage years. Here's a couple of links about Arnold.
Although it's not mentioned in the above articles apparently Arnold also rebuilt one of the ex-Konstant Hot Indy roadsters into a sprint car.

It was probably Hank Arnold, the later Fike Pluming car that Parnelly drove was built by Hank Henry.

A few years back Mac Miller and myself got to meet with Parnelli at a photo shoot for Mac's replica Calhoun roadster. He talked with us for over an hour and really opened up. He said that in 1959 he and Joe Pittman took a weekend off from IMCA to run a couple of Tom Cherry's AARC shows. The first race was in Michigan on a dirt track and Jones won going away. The next day they ran on the high banks of Ft. Wayne and cars that Parnelli had run away from the previous day were now running off and leaving him. Since they had already made the decision to run USAC in 1960 Parnelli suddenly realized that his current sprint car was probably not going to be the best choice for all of the paved tracks he would have to run. He told us that as soon as Ft. Wayne was over he got on the phone to Harlan Fike and told him what had happened. He said that Fike simply told him to get whatever car he thought he would need in USAC and he would pay for it. Parnelli said that he had been impressed by Hank Henry's sprint cars for several years so he ordered the car and let Fike know what he had done. I believe he did run the original car in the last USAC race of 1959 at Meyer Speedway in Houston which he almost won.
BTW, Parnelli told us that he really never remembered Harlan Fike ever being at any of the races that he and Pittman ran for Fike. Fike must have shown up at some of the west coast races but for the most part he was apparently something of an absentee owner.

Just realized that could be taken two ways. The meaning was that he was healthy and not that I hoped he had run out of photos. So it was the computer that wasn't healthy.

welcome back, glad it was just a hardware issue.
The outside car could be Curley Boyd in Merle Hazel's Dreyer build Cadillac. Curley did use a face shield like that.
