I love the look of the old sprint and Indy cars. I'm a firm believer that they were THE major influence for hot rods driven on the street. I'll be adding lots of sprint car features on my T roadster, one being nerf bars.
It looks like most racing nerfs were about the same size as the radius rods. Could the experts give me some advice on what was used or my have been required by rules? Thanks.

I have no idea what was required in the day, but I'll give you a tip. On my current build champ car I went to a boat salvage yard and bought a mound of salvaged, polished stainless steel boat deck hand railing. Most is 7/8" diameter and many pieces already had mandrel bent radii on them which could prove useful is saving time fabricating nerf bars, not to mention stunningly beautiful. My radius rods are made from 7/8 OD 4130 moly tube.

Midgets usually had 7/8" nerfs and sprints 1".

After a bit of "sluething" it appears the #36 was registered to a Bill Dixon in 65 and was driven by Booth on several occasions. Don't know the significance (if any) of the letter H in the bumper. Others probably know more
