A WHOLE LOT is VERY WRONG with that Denny!!!
Mutt was a giant in our sport, a wealth of knowlege. Ironically, I just read my recent Sprint car / Midget magazine and Bobby Unser had high praise for Mutt. R.I.P.
Saw USAC sprints at Lincoln last nite with the topless ARDC midgets, great show. Levi continued his winning ways.

I added about 130 photos of Vintage Indy cars that toured the track on Carb Day to my web site.

I meant to say "Don" as in Don Smith, the guy who commissioned the car. I have been privleged to see and talk with Mr. Smith at a showing of his collection in Tere Hote.
He said that after the '55 Indy, Tony Bettenhausen ran at the Action Track. Don asked him if he would like to try the streamliner. Tony did and fell in love with it. He wanted to drive it the following year but things didn't work out.

The family will have a public viewing on Monday,
June 7th at the St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairgrounds Rd., Xenia, Ohio,
between 5-8 PM. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 8th, at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 Detroit St., Xenia, at 10:00 a.m.

Anyone have a Pic of Rodger McKlusky in the beautiful Black, Konstant Hot Sprinter? That was one of Mutts best looking cars.

Who has Mutt's 51 car now? I thought I saw pictures of the restored car in one of the magazines some time back.
Didn't the Walthers own the 51 at some point? I think I remember Salt driving the car before he got into champcars.
Anderson himself restored and owned the car as of about 7 years ago, can't say about now though. About 75% is original, but he had to re-create the frame. Walther was the second owner.

The Lowther #2 was the Traylor #9 and #1 that Thomson drove. Hope this helps.
After Bruce Homeyer, Mickey Rupp and Mutt Anderson.
I think the order in which the car went through hands is, 1 Homeyer, 2 Mutt, 3 Rupp, 4 Back to Mutt, 5 Walther, 6 Gary Griffith then cut up and destroyed.
The car now is a recreation of the 51 car.
Steve I disagree. Rupp was #2 owner for the 1964 season, then Mutt.
Not sure if it's the same 51 but this is the Rupp 51 as it lives today in Indep. Mo Gary Cunningham is the current owner of this one.
I believe that #51 was built by Watson for Micky Rupp not too many years ago.
Jim Nise, I believe you are right.
I'm Brad Westover (grandson of Ross Westover) and I believe this is the car. The time frame is correct and the roll cage on this car is very distinct. Did you notice that the cage was chromed at one time? It got dinged up so it eventually ended up painted silver. Could you please tell me what became of this car. Where did it compete? Who drove it? Any information would be greatly appreicated.
The 51 was built by Jud Philips when he wrenched for Bruce Homeyer.

Thanks for the complement. I trryied to not over do it [lack of money]. I wanted it to look like a 1965 sprint car. I can no longer do the work so I had to shop it out. The root family did all the paint and lettering work. emmit Beeler did the frame work. It started out as a 1982? McQueen-Atkins car. Bought a nose, hood ,cowl from McGriff, found a real Edmounds tail. To put in the same sentance with Josh's car is a real honor. I do not know the history of the car,but I like the way it turned out. Do not claim I did the work or was a famous car. I am glad you guys like it, I do. Glad Roy likes driving it.

Joe: Thank you. Do you know who did the reconstruct. I remember looking at a pile of parts at a shop(Bill Bailey's) maybe 25-30 yrs ago,and the only thing identifiable was a roll bar and a front axle. next thing I know,a few years later, I see the purported car completely reconstructed in a museum near here. The museum had a connection to Mr. Bud Miller, of the original All-Stars sprint car circuit. I know that Bill did not do the re-construct. The pile of parts came from the Weirton,West Virginia area.
