    I have one suggestion.

Why don't you guys quit messin' around here. I say join forces and write a book and make yourselves some BIG money.

The knowledge many of you possess is literally amazing. THE greatest thread on the HAMB by a long stretch.

Actually, Reventlow isn't too far O/T. His F1 car used a quasi Offy (complete with desmodronic valve train) and has a lot of Indy roadster influence.

Rootie, I shall treasure it to perpetuity!

Reventlow was an heir to Revlon and had an actress mother??? I believe.

You're thinking of Peter Revson, Reventlow was heir to the Woolworth fortune. IIRC, his mother was Barbra Hutton (?) BTW- he was married to one of the original Mouseketeers Darlene I think.

His step dad was Cary Grant.

Actually his whole life was like a Hollywood movie.

Kidnapped by his father as a child, ties to the Democratic Party, the list goes on. And those Scarab cars were something else too.

I have to agree with Kurtis...the following paragraph is part of a posting I made on another thread, but it applies just as well to this one. With this in mind, this site has to be one of the best resource spots on the internet when it comes to racing.

One of the greatest things about this thread, and this whole site, for that matter, is the "bank" of knowledge we have with those participating. It's fantastic to read the history and recollections of years past.

Yeah, I've noticed recently that if you google something pertaining to 50s-60s racing, something from this thread often comes up near the top. I guess we're on their "radar"

Love the hand lettered "Flying A" Logo and numbers. I only live about 30 minutes from the Justice Bros. Museum but have not been there yet. Gotta go soon.

Thanks for kind words fella's... I only do it the old way, cause that's what I can afford. I in NO WAY have the kind of knowledge some on here have. I am learning with the rest of you. In fact, I'm blown away at how much I have learned since the begining.

That being said, While I agree it would make a GREAT book (after some editing, and cleaning) that's not really up to us. Ryan started the HAMB and while it's Public knowlege, if it belongs to anyone, it's his.

Besides, like the old saying goes: "THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS!! RIGHT NOW!" In all actuality, this IS the BOOK! Here in front of us, FREE of charge for the whole world. It'll go as long as you all run it, and it seems to steer itself pretty good!

Enjoy it, and again.. THANK YOU RYAN!

Didn't a driver named Claire Lewicke also drive this car around 1963-64-65? I think I have pics somewhere of it racing at Heidelberg(Pa.) on the half mile as a super modified. John S.:p

    Shirley Temple, Pop Dreyer?
I echo the opinions of others, and will go as far as to say this thread is the best thing going on the entire Information Superhighway, hands down.

Awesome, Rootie. Not a sprinter, but we are getting close to finishing another Dreyerette (1940s/50s version):

Okay then.. My turn to "try the panel of experts"

I'm researching Two racers. Time era I want info on: late 40's to late 50's

I believe they were both CAR OWNERS. I do not know if they did any driving.

    1. DALE DOTY From OHIO. I'm not sure if he was relation to Brad Doty, But I know I've read his name a few times.

    2. DOC BENTLY Same with the Doc, I've read that name before.

ANY pics of these guys, and there race cars. PLEASE post!

Rumor is one, or both may have attempted INDY.

    Thanks fella's... Make me proud!

Dale Doty was from Camden, Ohio. He built the Vivian Buick car, the C. R. Gill car ( the one Al & Rollie Beale won races in) and I know he built one for Ray Smith . The Smith car was bought by Junie Heffner who ran it in USAC in 1966 and 1967 with Don Hewitt, Dee Jones and others. The car then came into the possession of Pete Wetzel and Jack Hewitt got his start in that car.
The Vivian car ended up with the Howells and Don Mack drove it. The Gill car was lost to the ages.
Dale had drivers like Tom McClellan, Audie Swartz , Bob Pratt and others when he campaigned the Vivian car.

Doty owned the Sprinter Red Renner drove for a few of years after he and Ed Elisian crashed at Fort Wayne. He and renner won a couple of races at the old Playland Park track in northern Indiana. I believe he was also a P.O.W. during WWII.
