Hey guys I just got hold of a DVD of Larry Rice winning the 77 World Derby in NZ (the car I now own) & Now I can see the back of Larrys Gatorade racesuit. With your help I can see he had Rice a Roni on both sides of his helmet but cant make out the style of writing...any helpers out there,Im still hopefull to get some pics from Robbie Rice as he tells me he still has the helmet.
Ernie Saxon's (AARN - Area Auto Racing News) favorite driver too.
Scatch Daniels tried the 2 wheel qualifiying technique at T/H but I don't think it worked out as well.
i found this picture in a program i have
Looks Like the Ex Elmer George,Ex AJ Foyt Traco Sp; that Daniels is wheeling there. #62 IIRC.
Don't remember this being posted before.
Frank Kurtis' first race car.
"Frank Kurtis' first race car."
The Atlas Chrome Spl.
IIRC the car is still sitting somewhere in N Cal in unrestored conditon with an owner that prefers to sit on it,as it were......
Keeping it unrestored is OK with me but not showing it or stretching it's legs, providing it still runs, that's kinda being a touch selfish.
Last thing I heard it is in a shed rotting away, basically. Someone correct me if I remember this wrong.
Owner was said to be the very unfriendly type, too IIRC.
Yes it is, owned by Frank Wagner in 65 and half of the Daniels/Reichert team.
Mitch G, could you Id the issue of R. Pictorial for me ?? Thanks,

Curt81: Car was raced outof western penna as a dirt track sprinter in the URC by Dick Schwartzlander, sponsored by Don Martin(founder of Lernerville Speedway)!
Anybody have any info/photos of roadster or the champ-sprinter? My boyhood hero lost his life in that car (the Vargo champ car) at Trenton.I watched him race a coupe in the old Pittsburgh Racing Association in the 1950's. He was the smooooothest
driver I have ever seen. Anybody remember Dick Linder? John S.
Midget 18,or others, dont suppose you could come up with some pics of Larry Rice front on &/or side views of him in the Gatorade Racesuit, thanks again.
Who do you think made these I have tried to contact Hinchman,Simpson,Impact .All say no details on files.
Rootie-I missed it by one year-Frank Curtis made Indy as a builder in 1959. Same car from your photo at Trenton 1958.
